I saw 2 police officers in their van today...

one had his mask over his mouth but under his nose (I never know if that's down to stupidity or 'making a statement') and the other had his pulled right down under his chin.

If even the law enforcers aren't sticking to the rules anymore, I think that says something!

Police officers do not have to wear masks

ImTheWolfToday · 27/03/2021 05:47

I have a relative who works for the police, locally (no idea of other areas have the same rules) they don’t need to wear them in vehicles but they do as soon as they’re out and/have contact with others. They work within teams and if one has to isolate the whole team does, so yes effectively a work bubble. Bit of a nightmare because a cough in one can take a significant number of officers out for a while. It’s sensible though, if they’re driving round together for a whole shift a mask will mean very little if one of them does have COVID.

Unfortunately people do seem to be in work bubbles and they're all set up differently.

I have two work bubbles. One requires us to have mask on unless we're drinking/eating. If we're going to talk between that on our break, mask has to go back on, mask on in corridors etc. We're expected to try and still give eachother 2m and asked to spend 60 seconds washing hands, sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are plentiful, despite company struggling financially.

My other place of work only requires masks in corridors. Not many keep do it. My immediate work bubble choses to wear a mask or visor, but not many others do in the building.

It’s like Ant and Dec isn’t it, or the dancers on strictly? They don’t wear masks. They’re in work bubbles.

ineedaholidaynow · 27/03/2021 08:44

The dancers on strictly did form bubbles but when they did the group dances all the dancers bubbled together as a household so stayed in a large house and didn’t mix with anyone else for a few weeks. The couples on strictly also formed bubbles, so one member of the couple in effect became single so they could form a support bubble.

I am assuming the 2 police officers haven’t done that

And you do know the chances of catching anything, whilst outside, from someone who walks past you at a normal distance is vanishingly small.
Unless they come and breathe on your face or lick you then your extremely likely to be fine.

This- people who worry about those without a mask on outside need to understand this!

Also I wear glasses which steam up and I can’t see, so as soon as I leave a shop I pull my mask to just under my nose. Sorry if that offends anyone Hmm but the chances of you catching anything by waking past me is about 0.00001%

It has been a year. Can we ban this type of senseless post on MN?
They work together all day. Why would they wear masks when alone in their own vehicle??
No more nonsense posts!!

dontsaveusername · 27/03/2021 09:14

They are probably doing 2 weekly lateral flow tests, which will have been negative.

SpnBaby1967 · 27/03/2021 09:17

Probably on refs and had been eating.

Do you really go through your day mask checking everyone you see?
