I'm just watching Towie and all of them still look immaculate hair, nails and lashes. I look like a complete slob.

Yes because it’s ‘work’ Hmm

WeMarchOn · 22/03/2021 22:47

I thought the same when i watched it this morning!!

Meltinthemiddle · 22/03/2021 22:51

I'm sure everyone had to do their own hair and makeup previously.

@Meltinthemiddle the clubs, snooker hall, restaurants, coffee shops and bowling is a complete pisstake

MercyBooth · 22/03/2021 23:04

Schofield Willoughby Ant and Dec all seem to have found a wonder product that stops hair growing.

Footballers also seem to have sharp haircuts at the moment Confused

Smudgeis13 · 22/03/2021 23:21

And Nicola Sturgeons hair hasn’t grown an iota during the last year.

BluebellsGreenbells · 22/03/2021 23:22

So do all the newsreaders and politicians (Boris aside)

Doesn’t seem right does it?

MercyBooth · 22/03/2021 23:26

Looking forward to seeing sleb interviews in the future where they insist "im just like you" and seeing how they and the interviewer can say it with a straight face.

Cos if they are on twitter i will be tweeting them and saying No you are not.
They had a chance to show some solidarity and decided not to..

Big respect for Stephen Fry who showed up for his vaccine with massive realistic hair that showed the salons have been shut for over three months again. He showed them all up.

ParkheadParadise · 22/03/2021 23:26

My neighbours had her hair and nails done in lockdown.
Her hairdresser goes to her house.

MercyBooth · 22/03/2021 23:29

Covid is so intelligent isnt it. It knows to avoid the rich and famous but us working class plebs it hones in on us like a Polaris missile

BarbaraofSeville · 23/03/2021 06:56

I just assumed that they were doing it themselves or by members of their immediate household or support bubble, is that not the case? After all, just because someone looks 'immaculate' on the Internet or TV, doesn't necessarily mean they look like that close up, in person.

Remmy123 · 23/03/2021 07:18

People are getting their hair cut who have friends as hairdressers! My friend did mine outside with masks on.

I needed a hair cut and she needed the money!

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 23/03/2021 07:24

They are allowed to get their hair and makeup done on set for work reasons. Same with soaps etc. At one point on some of the soaps the artists were doing their own makeup and hair and it was very obvious- some looked terrible and some overnight became very glam which didn’t suit their characters at all.

I’ve no doubt some celebs, politicians etc ARE breaking the rules and having people in. However, in my own life, I’ve been able to do professional looking cuts and colours on my immediate family and one single relative that is in a bubble with us and I know some people at work have been judged for getting their hair done when actually it’s been a relative or themselves who have done the cut. Some (SHOCK HORROR) even live with hairdressers! So I’m always careful not to judge. Nails, lashes etc are super easy to do at home with some practice and all the kits can be bought online. Speaking from experience.

ceeveebee · 23/03/2021 07:37

@Smudgeis13

And Nicola Sturgeons hair hasn’t grown an iota during the last year.
I’m no NS fan but in fairness she has shared a few videos and photos of her cutting and dying her own hair over the last year

I thought that too. I do think it takes the piss actually especially Towie filming in pubs and restaurants.

Work in telly & on set make up artists are allowed. Everyone is tested every day and you’re not allowed on set until you’ve got the All Clear. We all wear masks all the time - including the Talent, apart from when they’re having their hair / make up done. Strict procedures are in place covering who can be in which room with which people / how many on set or in a room at any one time etc.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 23/03/2021 07:46

And haven’t Towie got a disclaimer at the start? Saying ‘these places were opened just for us’? Everyone on set will be tested daily as per my previous post.

StylishMummy · 23/03/2021 07:55

Someone commented to DH on a zoom call asking if he'd had a hair cut, with a Hmm expression. He confirmed he had and I'd taught myself to do it for him from YouTube videos. I've also restyled myself and trimmed DC's hair.

The footballers blatantly have an 'essential' hairdresser in the dressing rooms or similar seeing as none of them have been papped at the barbers.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 24/03/2021 13:40

Yeah, If Nicola Sturgeon is this good with doing her own hair then she might be a better hairdresser than she is a politician.

hopeishere · 24/03/2021 13:44

Some newsreaders have visible roots - Laura Kunnesburg and Sophie Raworth.

Some people hair grows slowly. My colleague got hers cut at the end of last year and it's barely any longer now.

But yeah some people are getting round the system. I've a friend who had hers down in lockdown one. It really made me view her differently.

LindsayDenton79 · 24/03/2021 13:50

If you watch any English Premier League football match I'd say at least half of the 22 players will be sporting a fresh haircut sub 48 hours

Frazzled2207 · 24/03/2021 14:42

I think there's been a lot of 'home haircuts' going on. Obviously some have been more successful than others.
Am not thinking there is a blanket exception for people on telly because some are visibly shaggier than usual. If there was a blanket exemption they'd all be looking their usual perfect selves.

It's the same at school tbh. Most of the kids seem to have perfectly ok looking hair. It's only mine that are super shaggy and that's because I don't trust myself to be able to improve it.
