If there's another lockdown god forbid please seriously consider including hairdressers and gyms as essential services.
The mental health of the nation is at an all time low.
Being able to have their hair done or go to the gym would give some people a much needed boost.

@Allmyarseandpeggymartin Your child is a genius. Belated birthday bank holiday needs to happen.

MercyBooth · 22/03/2021 20:42

@Dongdingdong Or change your name to a celebs by deed poll.

Its a question of hygiene. Some ppl cant do their own hair.

mum2jakie · 22/03/2021 20:45

Can I vote for shoe shops as essential services please? My kids are going to school with shoes that are too bloody small as they have slim feet and supermarket shoes are too loose!

Mrgrinch · 22/03/2021 20:45

To be honest if he doesn't go ahead with the roadmap there will be no hairdressers or gyms left. Or any businesses at all for that matter.

KeepWashingThoseHands · 22/03/2021 20:48

Now call me a conspiracy theorist but it’s clearly a ploy to stop international travel before they said so. Between lockdown weight and no gyms, homeschooling and WFH so we’ve all aged 10 years, plus no hairdressers or beauty salons - no one looks remotely like their passport photo so can’t leave the country.

MercyBooth · 22/03/2021 20:52

@mum2jakie I see that as essential

en0la · 22/03/2021 20:55

If you want hairdressers then I want swimming pools, they are much more important.

At the end of the day neither are essential.

Dongdingdong · 22/03/2021 20:56

@MercyBooth yes, so to anyone in that position - get a hairdresser round to your house! I’m sure loads of people have been.

Have you tried supermarket shoes with extra insoles ?

@mum2jakie why not just order shoes online and post back the ones that don’t fit?

cryh · 22/03/2021 21:02

Please can;t we have something cultural before gyms, gyms are the most boring places in the world!

Surely a lovely quiet, spacious art gallery, where people are barely breathing, is much better than a sweaty gym with people panting everywhere.

With multiple children needing trainers and football boots as well as school shoes posting them back can be an expensive faff and bulky to carry when posting back. Standing in the queue at the post office to post them back isn't exactly a world apart from booking a timed slot in a shoe shop for a fitting?
Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 22/03/2021 21:18

Dear Boris

If I don't give a flying fuck about gyms and having a haircut, please can I hug my dad who has cancer which was diagnosed during lockdown?

I just want to be with my family. That's it

kittensarecute · 22/03/2021 21:26

(Not so) Dear Boris

Thanks for nothing for robbing me of my greatest passion in life, the one thing that I'm good at and gives my life meaning. I'd like it back now, please, before my mental health deteriorates any more. Its been a year and I can't cope much longer.

flowerycurtain · 22/03/2021 21:26

@Allmyarseandpeggymartin
Your DS has THE BEST IDEA EVER!!

please get him to start a petition on behalf of the nations children!!

rosie39forever · 22/03/2021 21:30

Dear Boris
Can you please resign and take your useless bunch of incompetent cronies with you and put some grown ups in charge please and thank you.

User133847 · 22/03/2021 21:31

If Boris is forced into calling this further lockdown why would hairdressers be spared?

Xenia · 22/03/2021 21:31

The legislation including the latest Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (Steps) (England) Regulations 2021 is so restrictive it is like 1984. We have been sleep walking into a police state.

I was surprised they opened the gyms last time. Airborne virus and indoor physical exercise is bound to be ideal for Covid.
Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 22/03/2021 21:34

Aww thanks everybody - I’ll pass onto him that the mumsnetter vipers are right behind him!

Happy Birthday everyone! Cake

kittensarecute · 22/03/2021 21:35

Why is everyone talking about another lockdown??? Its making me really anxious

CoffeeWithCheese · 22/03/2021 21:38

Dear Boris.

Look, you're not enjoying this, you look like a sack of shit and are beginning to resemble Riff Raff from Rocky Horror, the mental health of the country is collectively broken.

It's time for the leader we all need...

Larry the Cat.

At this stage it's mainly panic after Boris's warning of a 'third wave' heading to Britain and now the news of a new variant from America.
