Not sure if I should get a vaccine tomorrow

Hi, I’m not the usual poster but has been lurking here for a while. I’ve got a COVID vaccine scheduled for tomorrow. I was really excited and looking forward to it however for the last two days I’ve been experiencing mild cold symptoms such as headache, slight shivers, fatigue. Nothing major, no temperature at all. However it’s still enough to make me feel tired and not 100%. I’m now not sure whether I should still get a vaccination, the guidelines say that if it is mild cold then still to go ahead with it.
Btw I tested myself with lateral flow test yesterday and it was negative.

Lateral flow tests are not very accurate. I think you need the proper test. You should not have the vaccine if you have Covid.

LimitIsUp · 19/03/2021 17:04

Turn up - ask the clinical staff at the vaccination centre. Easy

Northernsoullover · 19/03/2021 17:05

See how you feel in the morning. Its one of the questions I was asked was are you feeling fit and well, so if you aren't I would reschedule

Duckyneedsaclean · 19/03/2021 17:05

Go to your appointment and ask, they will assess if you're safe to have it.

Good luck

TyotyaKlava · 19/03/2021 17:07

The thing is with vaccine shortage I’m worried I won’t be able to reschedule and i was so close to get one!
I’ve just turned 40, healthy weight and no underlying conditions. So I felt quite lucky to get invited

You will get asked at least twice if you are feeling well, so it’s up to you if you feel well enough.

HSHorror · 19/03/2021 17:11

Chills is a symptom.
I dont really think you should be going into close contact with all the people at the vax site and the vaccinator who could give it to everyone else.

notrub · 19/03/2021 17:14

Book a PCR and get tested ASAP.

See if they can reschedule your vaccine.

TyotyaKlava · 19/03/2021 17:15

I’ve just tried to reschedule my vaccination and it didn’t let me. Might be something to do with the aforementioned shortages?
I want to book a pcr test however I don’t have one of three main symptoms. Should I just lie when booking?

You can’t go to a vaccine centre feeling unwell OP. The vaccine gives you a heavy arm in a lot of cases how will you know if your having a reaction? Since you have been poorly for the last 2 days!

I hope you feel better soon.

FlyingBurrito · 19/03/2021 17:18

I'd go,have you any reason to think you might have been in contact with someone with Covid?

This issue with lft is false positives not negatives when you have symptoms.

No need to decide now unless there are some complicated arrangements to get there that would need to be cancelled this afternoon

TyotyaKlava · 19/03/2021 17:22

My 6 yo daughter went back to school last week, but no confirmed cases there and she hasn’t got symptoms.
My other dd goes to nursery and has been a little snotty for the last couple of days

OP posts:
AmelieTaylor · 19/03/2021 17:23

I'd book a PCR because you really don't want the vaccine IF you have COVID. LFT might not pick it up if you don't have enough of a viral load yet.

Nonsense - LFT's simply aren't that accurate. They're designed to pick out asymptomatic cases who wouldn't otherwise get tested by PCR so it doesn't matter how many cases they miss as long as they pick up some! A -ve LFT proves absolutely nothing though.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 19/03/2021 18:04

They do ask if you have a cold even so they not vaccinate you with cold symptoms. No idea fir sure though.

gamerchick · 19/03/2021 18:07

Get some Vicks first defense. It knocks a cold back canny.

Dementedswan · 19/03/2021 18:09

They will do a temperature check before you even enter the building and ask how you are.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 19/03/2021 18:10

@Dementedswan they didn't check my temperature. I was surprised.

I had mine this morning. No temperature check at all.
NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 19/03/2021 18:11

Call out of hours and ask for advice.

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 19/03/2021 18:12

Didn’t check my temp either. Only asked about pregnancy.

Watsername · 19/03/2021 18:12

They didn't check my temperature. If you have COVID symptoms you must get a PCR and NOT go to the vaccination. If you are feeling a bit off (just a cold) then you can go.

They didn't do that where I went, massive venue, hundreds of people but no temp testing. They did ask if I felt well once I was inside the actual hall where they were doing the jabs but no interaction with anyone while in the queue waiting to get in.

I had mine today and there was no temp check. They did ask if I felt well though
Eifhe3221 · 19/03/2021 18:33

I wouldn't want my immune system to be dealing with a covid vaccine and actual covid at the same time, so if there's any chance it's that (and there is) I wouldn't get vaccinated right now. Same logic as for flu jabs. Plus there's possibly being infectious at a vaccination centre of all places. Can you ring them to ask to reschedule that way, and explain why?
