Called for vaccine but have no health conditions

WaterBottle123 · 13/03/2021 17:23

I've been texted to invite me for vaccine due to underlying health conditions. I am 100 percent healthy. I am 40. Not frontline etc etc.

My only thought is GP has done me a favour as husband died 7 years ago and he (the GP) has always worried about me and my daughters ever since. I think he feels a little guilt for not diagnosing him in time.

Can this be the case? I've booked anyway as everyone says there is no point not taking the slot.

Maybe they're way ahead in your area?
Another possibility is that you've been put in group 6 by mistake due to a code on your medical records? That's happened to at least two people I know. Totally baffled to be in group 6, and discovered it was due to something on their medical record from ages ago, that is no longer relevant.
Who knows? Your GP surgery would know the reason. But I wouldn't worry anyway. It's fine that you've gone ahead and booked it now.

shenanigans5 · 13/03/2021 17:42

My early 40s DH with no medical conditions was called for his last week. Just depends on how far ahead they are in your area.

WaterBottle123 · 13/03/2021 17:46

I know plenty of older people who haven't been called and the text specifically said because of medical conditions.

It's just weird that's all.

Do you have a high bmi?

Liverpoolarefab · 13/03/2021 17:49

This has happened to me this afternoon aswell! Got a text to say that due to underlying conditions I was eligible to book a vaccine. Asked my BIL who is a consultant and he said not to use the link but go into the website and see if I can book one . I know it's not due to my age (40s) as they're only in the 50 plus age group in my area atm!

This exact thread is posted at least once a day, if everyone just made the appointment when called rather than worrying about it we'd make even quicker progress that we already are Grin

If you have the opportunity make the appointment

WaterBottle123 · 13/03/2021 17:51

@FTMF30 nope just carrying standard lockdown pounds.

Sorry I don't usually read this board. I have made the appointment. I was just curious

In some areas, the GPs are focusing on the elderly and those with health conditions, while the mass hubs just bash on through the descending age groups.
If you’ve been offered one, just take it. It’s quicker than all the wasted admin time of cancelling yours and finding someone else at short notice.
They are on track to have every adult done by June 10th, at least for the first dose.

Lumene · 13/03/2021 18:16

Did you have gestational diabetes OP? Lots of people who did got put on the vulnerable list.

Really; don't worry about why just be happy you get the opportunity to book

@Lumene

No. Honestly there is absolutely nothing wrong with me and never has been.

I have a penicillin allergy. That's my only medical details of note.

Londontown12 · 13/03/2021 18:51

Could be your allergy my daughter 18 has a nut allergy and she has been called for vaccine x

Oly4 · 13/03/2021 18:52

Why does anyone care? Vaccines in arms is what we care about... some areas going quicker than others. I refuse to see this as a scandal but as the NHS cracking on

Beetlebum1981 · 13/03/2021 19:13

Had this today as well, I'm 39 and my only 'underlying health conditions' are depression & ADHD. I didn't click the link in the text in case it was a hoax but went to the booking website through Google - all booked in to be vaccinated this week. Part of me thought about ringing to check but DH just said get it, I didn't argue as I'm a teacher and there have been a lot of cases in children & staff in the past few weeks.

rainbowfairydust · 13/03/2021 21:25

My partner got a text today too which was unexpected, I told him to go onto the NHS website to try to book incase of a scam and he managed to book. It said because of underlying health conditions but we didn't think he was elegible (although we did think he SHOULD be elegible) he is 38 with high blood pressure and having various tests but have all come back normal so he is just on meds and been told its probably hereditary but when we googled hypertension it wasn't listed as on the vulnerable list.
I told him to crack on and book it though, given he has hospital appointments I'd rather him just take it

Kittykat93 · 13/03/2021 21:31

Why are you bothered? Just go have the vaccine, doesn't matter why or when you have it.

Bumpsadaisie · 13/03/2021 21:49

In my area everyone in their 40s being called.

Ticklemycarpets · 13/03/2021 21:54

Probably your medical records have a note on to say that you are a carer. It could be left on there from when you cared for your husband perhaps.
All carers are in the current wave, I was called for mine for that reason, I'm 38.
Take it anyway

happytoday73 · 13/03/2021 21:54

Today newspaper article... Everyone over 50 offered by end of this week... All over 40s offered by Easter...so perhaps your area just a little ahead...

Many at my centre today looked like 40s

@Ticklemycarpets

It's possible but the text specifically stated underlying health conditions

Me too, I’m 41, I’m widowed also. I suspect
being late DH’s carer is still on my records (though I wasn’t a proper carer, just his incompetent loved one). I don’t think they change the auto message to make it accurate to different circumstances, just leave it at ‘underlying condition’.

I’m all booked in - as my children’s sole parent I’m really happy to be getting vaccinated soon

tunnocksreturns2019 · 13/03/2021 22:47

Oh and my BMI is 19 and I’ve never had GD.

cyclingtowardsbethlehem · 13/03/2021 22:53

Same here! The only health thing I have is very mild psoriasis- no medication. I'm not worried but am curious. I checked DPs text as he's a bit older and had it in age group and no mention of health conditions for him (I've also only been offered hub rather than GP). We're not on 40s in our area yet.
