Some are - mainly the ones at supermarkets i think. The one in our town High Street is shut but has a sign up to say that the one in the next town is open and I know that the 2 attached to supermarkets in our county town are open.

I had my key cut in my local one which is in a supermarket.

Ours is. Medium size market town, population about 10000 people.

We've got one inside Morrison's locally and that's definitely open.

Yep, Timpsons put a new battery in mine a few weeks back. Small London booth/shop.

My local one isn't but was until about a fortnight ago, and the sign on the door directs you to another branch.

I am imagining the response from some people if you said that repairing their favourite or most comfortable shoes was not essential.

Cobbler's is fine if you are using at shorthand for a cobbler's shop 😁

But I used a plural verb, are....
