Have any other MNetters had this one? I know it's mostly UK based folk on here, but at the same time there are a good many from other countries too.

So pleased to be vaccinated! It's been 8 hours, arm is starting to get a bit of that bruised feeling if I lean on it.

No, here in the uk we are expecting a delivery of this vaccine soon. We are giving the Astra Zeneca and Pfizer vaccines at the moment. Sore arms are very common for 24 hours or so.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 03/03/2021 20:14

Congratulations - which country are you in and what is the system there?

Vargas · 03/03/2021 20:15

Exciting! Do you have a second dose scheduled yet?

AbsentmindedWoman · 03/03/2021 20:25

I'm in NYC, so people with underlying conditions became eligible for the vaccine here about two weeks ago. Very hard to find an available appointment though so today was the earliest I could get!

Yes, second dose scheduled in just over 3 weeks.

Just updating this as had second Moderna a few hours ago! Interested to see if I get any side effects this time. Had none with the first, bar the sore arm.

Very happy to be done Smile

UK is due to start giving Moderna in the next few days/ weeks isn't it?

Scottishskifun · 27/03/2021 19:52

We haven't started yet with moderna wish we would though due to current vaccine supply arguments ongoing!

MRex · 27/03/2021 19:57

We don't know when it's arriving, but we hope so! Moderna has great results, it's amazing what all the scientists have done and I'm amazed by what some humans can achieve.

Is Moderna expected to be like Pfizer with more likelihood of side effects on the second dose? I had Oxford Astrazeneca, would have been delighted with any.

Myalternate · 27/03/2021 19:58

Well done on having the vaccine! 🙂 Can't wait to get mine.

Delatron · 27/03/2021 21:47

I thought I read that Moderna was arriving 4th April here in the U.K. If it does this will surely plug the gap?

Cookerhood · 27/03/2021 21:51

All.thats been said is "spring" and then "April" I believe. Presumably the end of April.

Strawberrylemincake · 27/03/2021 21:59

I had mine at midday. I’m now aching all over and shaking almost uncontrollably. I had the AstraZeneca. My bp is 185/110 and generally feet a bit rubbish. Have taken paracetamol and neurofen and I’m sleeping with layers on and an extra heater. I feel feverish so I hope the paracetamol will work it’s magic. I’m trying some deep breathing because I think I panicked a bit when I start shaking/jerking. I don’t think it’s unusual to have a reaction. Fingers crossed I’m bright and breezy in the morning.

lljkk · 27/03/2021 22:12

Most of my US contacts (who have had a jab at all) have had Moderna. They never mention any side effects.

Why gave you reported side efdects of the az jab on a thread about the moderna vaccine? There are plenty of az threads to put that on.
BunsyGirl · 27/03/2021 22:41

@Cookerhood According to the Mail, Moderna is arriving in the U.K. three weeks.

Strawberrylemincake · 28/03/2021 00:19

Knittingsddict It was an error. Would you like me to report it and have it removed? Seriously why do you even care!

LacyEdge · 28/03/2021 02:20

I have a friend in the US who had Moderna and he did have some side effects, but nothing extreme. Just the flu-ish feelings for 24-48hrs. He was just thrilled to have it, after almost losing his healthy 30-something wife to Covid. They’re both fully jabbed now, thankfully.

Hope our Moderna allocation arrives soon Wine

Delatron · 28/03/2021 13:14

Just read this morning that it will be rolled out in three weeks but that it is arriving imminently. I think this is good news. I guess after it arrives it takes a while to distribute to centres and then get the appointments in.

So fingers crossed under 50s towards the end of April?

Schmoozer · 28/03/2021 13:18

Moderna is the most expensive for the UK - around £35 per jab
Pfizer around £15
AZ around £5

I expect NHS will not wish to use Moderna as a mainstay due to cost

Delatron · 28/03/2021 13:49

How does that work then, if we’ve ordered millions surely they are already paid for?

justanotherneighinparadise · 28/03/2021 13:51

I’m quite interested in having the Moderna jab if it gets offered in the UK. It uses the new technology Pfizer used.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/03/2021 14:00

it's great to hear of a new (to us) vaccine going into more arms.

RubyTrees · 28/03/2021 15:59

My sister and elderly dad are both in the US - dad has had both doses of Moderna and sister had the single dose Johnson & Johnson.

Neither experienced any side effects.

Her last comment was March 18

I wanted to give an update to all my family, friends, and followers this morning! The acupuncture herbal remedies seem to be helping! I still have days with tremors, no major convulsions in a week! I am on bed rest except for MD appointments and small walks out side for 10-15 minutes 4-5 times a day! I have days where I stutter and can't seem to form sentences. So far all tests have turned up negative and no one can give me a medical diagnosis! I feel weakness in my legs on a regular basis and often feel foggy headed! Continued prayers and support is much appreciated! I want to give a shout out to friends ! You all have played an amazing roll and I respect you all! Thanks for working with me when no one else would!

That’s 24 days after your first, right? I’ve had my first and I have an appointment for my second which is 30 days later. Felt ok other than some nausea.

It was quite an experience getting the vaccine - it was in an unused part of a shopping mall, and the National Guard were checking people in. They’re also doing them at an old racetrack here which apparently is very cool.

Very happy to have been done - I’m 50 and they just opened up to us last week in my state.
