Vaccine numbers and it feeling further and further away

I don't really want to berate what is clearly a massive job that has so far been amazingly well delivered, but I'm feeling a little despondent.

Numbers of jabs are not increasing and now they're on to second doses too, meaning the new doses are going to be less.

A month ago I was hearing almost daily of friends and family being called... now no one, just us waiting.

Any positive comments? I really want the numbers to continue, if not rise.

BTW I'm late 50s so maybe it just feels worse because it's near, but not near enough.

@DareIask not to worry, try again on Friday, if still not then Monday.

ExpulsoCorona · 03/03/2021 14:44

Lol @StarCat2020 we're on the same page!

Make sure you select the right region, England Scotland or Wales and also in the vaccination rate bit choose government plan. I think you will find it's very close for you.

The government briefed the press on this, there's currently a supply drop which is expected and temporary and has been factored into the final target date. They have also made sure second doses won't slow first doses down, they're being done at separate clinics / days and it has all been accounted for in the plan.

@DayBath thanks for posting this link, really useful

I had my first dose at the beginning of Feb, and second dose is booked in for April. (I'm CEV). GPs rang today to offer H his vaccine - he's 53, with asthma which is well controlled, so group 9 we think. He'll have first dose this week and booked in for second dose in May.
This is in NE England.

Lol @StarCat2020 we're on the same page!
I do apologise for bringing you down to my lowly level!!!

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 03/03/2021 15:24

Waiting for my 1st jab was the hardest part of the whole thing so far for me.

I sympathise OP but hopefully it shouldn't be long Flowers

nordica · 03/03/2021 15:33

Matt Hancock was quoted as saying there's going to be "bumper weeks ahead" with the supply really increasing later this month. I think the Moderna vaccine is expected later this month or early April too.

I feel like almost every day someone on my Facebook timeline is posting a photo of themselves getting the vaccine, anyway. I have a while to wait still as I'm late 30s...

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/03/2021 19:22

The jab numbers are low this week. So the vaccine calculator may give a longer estimate. However apparently from 15th vaccination supply will be double what it previously has been. We may even manage the odd one million dayGrin

rainbowunicorn · 03/03/2021 20:22

OP you seem very obsessed with this. It really can't be good for you. Why not spend a few days not looking at the vaccine calculators and stats and just get on with other things. It may help you get some persepective. It will be a matter of weeks until you get your vaccine. Try to not get too hung up on the daily numbers.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 04/03/2021 10:04

I’m obsessed too! Doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with me. We’re in lockdown, there isn’t much else to do apart from go for a walk or obsess over a vaccine!

WombatChocolate · 04/03/2021 11:31

I’ve become a bit obsessive too. I love the threads which spot when another group can use the national booking system before they update the front page.

Today, Group 6 (clinically vulnerable) who previously could only book when contacted direct by GP, are added to the front page list of groups eligible to book on the national booking system.

It is moving forward all the time. It really will only be a matter of days before those upper 50s can book using the national booking system, and some areas are doing them already.

Hermie12 · 04/03/2021 11:43

The vaccinations are coming in fits and starts depending on location . No vaccines here last week but obviously they had been notified of delivery this week as I was texted Friday and had my first dose this morning (group 6)

bruffin · 05/03/2021 23:21
