Vaccine side effects

I've got my Covid jab booked for Friday and DH is tomorrow. Thrilled, tbh. A big step in getting out of this dense gloom.

But I want to be realistically prepared. I don't know if we are having AZ or Pfizer jabs. I suppose we could have different. Can anyone who experienced side effects please let me know what they were and how long they lasted? I have a high needs DD to care for and I want to be sure I'll still feel capable if I were to experience the side effects.

Early days but having quite a lot of side effects with first Pfizer vaccine. Painful, weak arm, feeling dizzy and faint, head, stomach, muscle, joint and ear pain, extreme fatigue, sore throat, strange taste, feeling hot and cold and so on - a bit like flu. Not serious and will hopefully be worth it to prevent severe Covid19 and protect others and the NHS. I recommend reporting via the Yellow Card scheme if you do have side effects, especially as these are new, rapidly developed vaccines. The jab was painless and fantastically staffed by NHS staff and volunteers.

I had Pfizer last Saturday and have had quite a week!

I’m a healthy 55 year old.

Sunday and Monday- sore arm at vaccine site but felt ok.
Tuesday woke up with awful headache right at the top of my head. Felt exhausted couldn’t eat, tired to work but ended up lying most of the day in the sofa.

Wednesday.- Headache gone but still exhausted. Did nothing all day. Eating half what I usually eat.
Thursday/Friday felt slightly better but every time I tried to do something, felt dizzy and faint and had to have a lie down. Still not eating properly.
Saturday, felt much better, tried to do a bit of gardening, after half an hour had to go and lie down.
Sunday- felt absolutely fine, back to normal!

Will add, I use the Zoe app, it asked me to do a Covid test on Wednesday, which came back negative. According to the Zoe research about 5% of people get a reaction similar to what I've had with the Pfizer vaccine. Dispute being ill for nearly a week, I’m very thankful I’ve had the vaccine!

I had Astra zenica and my work mate had Pfizer but we both had the same side effects

Allfurcoatandnoknickers · 28/02/2021 21:11

I had 1st Pfizer a week ago. Felt extreme fatigue for four days afterwards and headache.

M, 52, in Group 6 (HCV but not ECV) due to multiple preexisting conditions, Have not had COVID19.

Pfizer jab a fortnight ago (first dose only). Found out which vaccine only when the vaccinator picked up the syringe to do the injection.

Mild side effects: mildly sore arm for about 2 days starting about 2-3h after injection. Headaches the evening of injection and the evening after, but that could also have been from not drinking enough water. No longer-duration side effects. When I get the second dose I will be sure to be well hydrated ahead of time.

I’m very grateful to have been offered any vaccine so quickly, and I think it’s a no-brainer for most people to get it as soon as it’s offered, because clearly both vaccines offer excellent protection against most variants, and if we’re a little bit lucky they’ll also offer some protection against all variants.

It's been a week since I had the vaccine, I've had a really sensitive stomach all week and loose bowels, but today I've developed a head cold type feeling and i seem to have hit a massive wall of exhaustion. A week after the vaccine. Is that a side effect? Because I haven't been anywhere or seen anyone. None of us have

@FuckingFabulous. It's over a week since my vaccine and I still think I'm having some side affects. I felt fine for a few days but feel like day 2 again today.

angieloumc · 06/03/2021 07:30

I had the Astra yesterday afternoon, felt fine till 2 am and have been awake since then; hot then cold, pounding headache, dizzy when get up, nausea and vomiting, just flu like symptoms. Have taken paracetamol but brought them back up. Still, am very grateful for it, as if I feel like this after the vaccine, can only imagine how covid would feel.

Willyoujustbequiet · 06/03/2021 11:26

Nearly double the yellow card warnings for the Oxford one than the Pfizer- anecdotally on here that would seem to be true.

MrsMackesy · 06/03/2021 11:41

Still having (what we think are) side effects from the Pfizer. - now adding underarm pain and feeling very gloomy to the list.

FuckingFabulous · 09/03/2021 11:46

I developed weird hives that kept coming and going for about 48hrs almost a week after the jab. I had to yellow card it as it sounded exactly like descriptions of a hive rash that's associated with Covid. It seems I'm not the only one. It was itchy and painful while I had it but now I'm fine

Not hives here, but certainly itchy and a sensitive stomach. Week and a half after Pfizer.

baroqueandblue · 04/04/2021 21:30

Had AZ on Thursday morning. By Thursday evening I was feeling tired and achey. Friday I felt very depressed, achey, tired and had a headache by early evening. Began to feel my mood lighten by bedtime. Yesterday I had bounced back mood-wise, not so achey but tired and a bit breathless with a cough now and again. Today my back has been very achey. I fractured a vertebra last year though and it has been a long recovery, so not unusual except the intensity today is worrying. Most worrying of all, however, is a lot of breathlessness and anxiety. No indication online, as far as I can see, that this is a side effect, and again, not a stranger to breathing difficulties or anxiety but this is very intense and I'm certain it's an echo of the virus. I've had the long version and apparently if you've had the virus you generally get worse side effects.

I kep thinking of my friend who has COPD and had few side effects, seemed to breeze through in comparison to how I'm feeling. My left eye is very sore too. Feeling very glum and concerned.

Stillgoings · 04/04/2021 22:30

I had AZ and I was fine. My arm ached for about 5 days and I was shivery the first night but that was it. Day 8 now. Not out of the woods in terms of clots but optimistic

lunar1 · 05/04/2021 03:15

I had hives and a headache with the first Pfizer, took a piriton when I had my second and didn't get any side effects.
