Vaccine side effects

I've got my Covid jab booked for Friday and DH is tomorrow. Thrilled, tbh. A big step in getting out of this dense gloom.

But I want to be realistically prepared. I don't know if we are having AZ or Pfizer jabs. I suppose we could have different. Can anyone who experienced side effects please let me know what they were and how long they lasted? I have a high needs DD to care for and I want to be sure I'll still feel capable if I were to experience the side effects.

I had the Pfizer one. The actual needle piecing my skin hurt slightly but that was it. No side effects or swelling at injection site. Felt fine

MummyPop00 · 24/02/2021 12:35

Me and the OH have both had Covid so are supposed to be more prone to side effects.

I’ve had the AZ jab & had side effects.

He’s had the Pfizer & had no side effects.

AZ is supposed to be worse on the 1st jab, Pfizer the 2nd...

Frazzled6 · 24/02/2021 12:54

AZ jab yesterday, slept the best I have in ages last night. Slight pain in the arm now and a slight dull headache but much better than I expected.

Allfurcoatandnoknickers · 24/02/2021 13:19

I had the Pfizer jab on Saturday afternoon. I had a headache before which got worse, then had gone by Monday morning. Felt very fatigued which has only just really started to go.

Alone97 · 24/02/2021 13:41

I had the pfizer last week, had a really sore arm for a couple of days and had a pain at the top of my back in the middle for half a day (not sure if it was the vaccine or not though).
Feel absolutely fine now though.

Kmx123 · 24/02/2021 22:27

Pfizer sore arm for 48 hours

girlofthenorth · 25/02/2021 10:55

Had second Pfizer yesterday , sore arm and feeling achey all over , headachey, all mild hopefully so far ! Not feeling like doing much though. I had expected it to be much worse as had covid in December .

MintyCedric · 25/02/2021 11:14

Having booked my vax through a link for carer's I subsequently had a message from my GP surgery so have been able to reschedule it to Sunday and have it much nearer home.

Must admit I'm feeling a bit anxious about it still but at least I know I'll be at home that afternoon/evening if I do feel a bit crap.

FuckingFabulous · 26/02/2021 12:00

DH had Pfizer on Wednesday and has had no side effects except a little bruised feeling on his arm. I've just had Astra Zeneca literally five minutes ago and I will report back if I have any side effects!

Generally this seems to hold:
Pfizer/1st dose = no real effects, 2nd = may feel grotty for 24 hours
AZ - 1st dose = might feel grotty for 12-24+ hours; 2nd dose = mild/none

I am sure that I read this somewhere more official (sorry PP).

I wish I could find it again

Hersetta427 · 27/02/2021 15:05

Have my vaccination yesterday morning so around 30 hrs ago (had the Pfizer vaccine) and feel completely normal - not even a sore arm.

FuckingFabulous · 27/02/2021 15:30

I feel somewhat ill. Groggy, exhausted, headache. Arm hurts a lot as well!!

Bargebill19 · 27/02/2021 15:32

Pfizer on Thursday. Felt like I had hit a brick wall on Friday, but absolutely brilliant today!

I will book a day off for the day after my next jab or make sure it’s a Friday appointment.

FuckingFabulous · 28/02/2021 09:28

Headache is gone for now but I still feel groggy and have a stomach upset.

Abraxan · 28/02/2021 09:56

I had the Pfizer on Wednesday.
Thursday I had a sore arm and a bit of a headache.
Friday - headache gone. Jab site is a bit swollen and warm, sore to touch.
Weekend - the gland under my jab arm is very sore. Doesn't feel swollen, but it is quite painful. Pain meds to reliving most of the pain.

I assume it's the immune system kicking in. I have an auto immune condition so know a reaction could be likely. It's not ideal but rather this and be vaccinated tbh. It'll pass. I often get a painful reaction following my flu jab - couple of years ago my upper arm was hugely swollen, bright red and boiling hot. It's not as bad as that.

Dh's colleague - I'd 40s, no health issues - has his last week. Was ill for one day after then fine. Felt ill enough not to be able work and ended up going to bed to sleep it off. All fine day after though.

Goodmorninglights · 28/02/2021 12:07

Had the Pfizer jab Wednesday. Beyond exhausted today, can’t keep eyes open or get going, and I was so looking forward to a day sorting out the garden. Anyone else? Could it be a side effect? Not like me at all!

Bargebill19 · 28/02/2021 12:09

@Goodmorninglights

That’s was me on Friday. Absolutely fine on Saturday and today. Bouncing around😊
Shame I flunked an interview on Friday due to being unable to think straight.

Animum2 · 28/02/2021 12:48

I had mine on Friday morning, felt fine through the day but woke up in the middle of the night with arm pain from shoulder to elbow, took some paracetamol but it just got worse, by the morning I had a banging headache like a migraine along with hot and cold shivers, felt very nauseous as well, today I just have a slightly achy arm and headache

Animum2 · 28/02/2021 12:50

Mine was Astra zenica

Howyoualldoworkme · 28/02/2021 15:02

DH and I both had Pfizer on Friday morning. He didn't even notice the jab but I did and had an aching arm until the evening.
I've had no other side effects but DH has had a migraine since Saturday morning plus slight fluey feeling.
And is very grumpy and wishing he hadn't had it. Hmm

So one of the side effects could be 'husband under the patio' Grin

MintyCedric · 28/02/2021 15:15

Had Pfizer at midday. Probs too soon for side effects but currently have a dry mouth and feel woolly headed and a bit floaty...almost like I've just come round from anaesthetic.

I'm inclined to think it might be a side effect of anxiety about the jab rather than the jab itself.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 28/02/2021 15:51

Had Pfizer yesterday at 9am, have a sore patch on my arm. Slept really well last night - only 'side effect' other than the sore patch on my arm. Have walked 10 miles today and feel fine.

Mumof3andlovingit · 28/02/2021 16:03

Had Pfizer Friday evening. Had a mild-moderate headache all of Saturday, but feeling fine now.
DH also had Pfizer, but had zero side effects.

Pyewackect · 28/02/2021 16:18

Pfizer , 42 , ITU Nusre. I felt like shit for 24 hours.

queenofthelamas · 28/02/2021 19:16

I had Pfizer yesterday morning. I felt ok but really tired (although I didn't sleep well for worrying the night before). My arm really hurts today and I have a sore throat and sneezing? (Could be early heyfever I guess)
To be honest I am dreading the second dose and highly contemplating not having it!

My DF had the Oxford jab Thursday morning and was fine apart from feeling a bit cold until last night where he has gone downhill. Hasn't been able to get out of bed today and has struggled to go to the toilet due to extreme dizzy spells when he stands up. I am very worried about him.
