Group 6 vaccine - timeframe?

57 replies

fireflylanegirls · 23/02/2021 14:18

Sorry for another vaccine post.

I’m group 6. My Gp has confirmed it’s on my records that I’m group 6.

I don’t want to call and chase as I’m sure they are inundated with vaccine calls, but I’m stating to worry that I’ve been missed.

I’m back to work in 6 weeks (on mat leave) and I was really hoping I’d be vaccinated before I go back (office based)

Does anyone know if group 6 should’ve been done by now?

OP posts:
Wakemeuuuup · 23/02/2021 15:00

Mine are doing it by age. Was told people in 60s last week so 2 or 3 weeks for me

bungobango · 23/02/2021 15:02

I called the surgery and I wasn't in group 6. Somehow there had been computer error but now I am having my jab on Thursday

BlueSoop · 23/02/2021 15:09

@Mumski45 my DH has coeliac and he’s group 6, he’s booked in for his jab this week.

OP they’ve only just begun vaccinating group 6 so it could be any time between now and the end of March that you get offered an appointment. My GP is going through group 6 in order of age.

Jkb84 · 23/02/2021 15:09

@uncomfortablydumb53 I've just checked the calculator and it says from 22nd Feb to 29th March

Tequilasun · 23/02/2021 15:18

What group would I fall in? I'm 58 with no health issues. Dh also 58 had his yesterday but has a few health problems. Thanks

indemMUND · 23/02/2021 15:19

Text message sent by my GP surgery tells people not to ring asking about vaccines. There's a warning not to use the econsult form to ask about them either. I have uncontrolled asthma. Single parent. Apparently school attendance will be compulsory again and fines back in place. So I just have to get on with it? Can't ask anyone?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 23/02/2021 15:37

@Jkb84
Yes, that's correct. This is the end date for group 6, so if a there's a lag in an area or region, they will make available other venues, to ensure the date is still met
Coincidentally( or not?) this is also the date allowing 2 households to meet up outside

uncomfortablydumb53 · 23/02/2021 15:43

@indemMUND
I'm in group 6, but don't have asthma, but I do understand your concern
I wondered if the asthma uk website may have a helpline or advisor you could contact?

IShavedMyHairOff · 23/02/2021 15:53

My area is on ages 65-69 so no idea how long I will have to wait.

mollypuss1 · 23/02/2021 15:53

My DH is group 6, confirmed by the GP. Not heard a peep either yet though. Every time he gets a message I have that split second moment of hope. I desperately wanted him to have it before our DD went back to school.

justanotherneighinparadise · 23/02/2021 15:54

I would advise chasing. We received news that we’d been invited but we never received the communication

CMOTDibbler · 23/02/2021 15:54

I'm group 6, and had the phone call this morning for a vax on Friday

justanotherneighinparadise · 23/02/2021 15:54

So i telephoned and managed to book in this week.

WombatChocolate · 23/02/2021 16:07

I’m group 6 - Surrey. Had a text yesterday, directing me to book on the local booking system (via a link) and I am booked for Thursday. I was only offered one location, but a range of slots available. It’s about 3 miles from where I live.

However, the info on the surgery website and the CCG group website isn’t very helpful. It just says they are doing over 65s. There is no mention of Group 6 being done. In fact, to find that over 65 info you have to delve around, whilst a banner flies at the top of the webpage saying over 70s are currently being done. It’s out of date.

I do think that just listing which group is currently being done and keeping that up to date would help and save a lot of phone calls.

jewel1968 · 23/02/2021 16:19

@uncomfortablydumb53 do you know who supplies the codes that link with the JCVI.

My DS is in G6 but hasn't heard anything.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 23/02/2021 16:36

@jewel1968
All I know is every diagnosis has a code( which is listed on patient records) and this is where the groups are gathered from, which I guess is where the JCVI have decided the risks are from
I am not medically qualified but have a vague understanding of nhs due to lifelong
disability
I do hope your DS hears soon I'm group 6, and have mine tomorrow but everyone will be called by 29 March

Beaniecats · 23/02/2021 16:40

Group 6 heard nothing not allowed call GP about vaccine can't book using web link

icedancerlenny · 23/02/2021 16:41

I’m group 6 and I had mine on 16th. Wasn’t expecting it so soon as they had just announced they were moving to group 5 on the Friday. Group 5 was moved to a mass site and GP moved to group 6.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/02/2021 16:44

Well Dh has just been called. We are be used. He has moderately high but well managed blood pressure. Is this a condition?

I’d love to know those codes.

needadvice54321 · 23/02/2021 16:52

I'm group 6 - confirmed by GP last week. I haven't heard anything, but didn't realise it could be anytime from now till the end of March so maybe I'll stop worrying Smile. Although I would of liked it to have been done before my children go back into education

FascinatingCarrot · 23/02/2021 17:28

@Mindymomo

Have you tried to book it on the NHS vaccination website, you only need your NHS number. That will tell you if you are eligible to book with one of the hubs.
This is not available for group 6
RhubarbCrumbling · 23/02/2021 18:29

Not started group 6 here, not enough vaccine delivered. Varies. Postcode lottery. Plenty of vaccine at big hubs people can go to but agp not sending there where I live.

CocoSims · 23/02/2021 18:37

My DH had been missed off the list in error (he has heart disease). I sent an email to reception and said FAO Dr .... in the title. That was yesterday. The Dr called my hubby at 8:45 this morning and said there had been a no show could he fill the spot and be there in 20 minutes. We jumped at it.

When we got there the nurse said she was disheartened it was barely 9:15 and almost a quarter of the people hadn’t bothered turning up.

I’d email your normal doctor and just really politely say your in Group 6 for xx and really anxious about returning to work without a vax, if there are any cancellations or no shows you can be at the hub in xx minutes.

There are so many people not turning up honestly if you’re in this group you’d be doing them a favour, the GPs have access to the slots list so he/she can book you in just like that.

CocoSims · 23/02/2021 18:43

Ps. A lot of mixed messages on here. Your GP surgery 100% have the ability to add you to their list if they feel it medically necessary, it’s at their discretion.

Any of you waiting do what we did (inadvertently) and get in on a no show... they need numbers and there are too many not bothering to turn up.

indemMUND · 23/02/2021 19:12

Since posting I've had a phone call from my GP surgery out of the blue booking me in for Friday! I must be group 6 then!
