Anyone want to place a bet on whether my swab will come back negative or positive?

Just some idle speculating while I wait for the result. Pertinent background -

  • Patient facing NHS (not seen any known positive patients for a while though)
  • Last in work late last week
  • Since then I've been to the supermarket a couple of times, otherwise not seen anyone from outside my household
  • No-one else in the house has symptoms
  • Symptoms started yesterday morning, just a cough and a bit of chest tightness, in normal times I would be in work as I feel basically well.
  • Had vaccine (Pfizer so 50% efficacy from first dose) 5 weeks ago.

Any guesses?

I'd guess positive. Based on nothing except just having a guess!

I'd be interested to see if you get anymore symptoms or whether you start to feel worse considering you've had one dose though, hopefully you won't though !

Ah, it's a test through my workplace rather than the main NHS testing for the public so I should get my result tomorrow morning Smile

Negative. The chest tightness is probably anxiety/ psychological.

Positive. Unless it's a lateral flow test, in which case Negative.

BikeRunSki · 17/02/2021 14:04

Negative. Other illness are still available.

Isadora2007 · 17/02/2021 14:11

Positive. I think an asymptomatic patient is the culprit.

It's a PCR, I would have been due to do my twice weekly lateral flow today but haven't as we aren't supposed to if we have symptoms.

I tested positive for a Covid at the start of last week - no symptoms, it was a day 1 entry test for another country. I had been so careful in the previous month - The supermarket is really the only possible culprit.

So positive I say, but I think the supermarket is the transmission point.
