All of groups 5 and 6 in 20 days?

According to coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/vaccinations we are doing about 433,000 vaccinations a day on average. There are 2.4+6.1=8.5 million people in groups 5 and 6. This means we could do them all in 20 days!!

Is that really possible? If so, wow.

I hope so!

My family (me included) are group 6 and the thought of the kids going back to school before we get the jab worries me a lot.

pinkhappy · 11/02/2021 16:53

25 days until March 8 so who knows, hopefully you will have been vaccinated!

(I doubt many school years will actually go back on March 8 to be honest.)

I’m group 4 and have had my vaccine at a national hub today. There was 1 other person there so they are obviously delaying 5 & 6 in places Hmm

Bibidy · 11/02/2021 16:56

I think it could totally be possible. My mum is 65 and had her first jab on Tuesday and my dad is having his today and he's not even 65 yet. Some areas must be pushing on past the first few groups already.

pjani · 11/02/2021 16:58

I love this idea! Second jabs won't start in earnest till he end of December I think (as the very first cohort to get the jab in early-mid Dec got their second jab already) so that wouldn't slow things down.

pinkhappy · 11/02/2021 17:00

Second jabs won't start in earnest till he end of December

Do you mean April?

My 67 year old friend received a text invite today and is going tomorrow morning. South East.

Sleepyblueocean · 11/02/2021 17:53

I think group 6 is bigger than 6 million so I think it will take longer than that.

GintyMcGinty · 11/02/2021 17:54

In England maybe but no chance in Scotland. They aren't even meeting the targets for the over 70s.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 11/02/2021 18:02

7.2m according to Govt website.

I'm group 6 (52:diabetic) I had mine on Saturday. We are getting there.

I'm very grateful having had it. It's reduced my stress level somewhat knowing that when the schools go back I'll definitely have had my 3 weeks of building immunity!

I'm pretty confident we'll have done what they have said we will do 🤞🏼

XingMing · 11/02/2021 18:07

DH gets his this Saturday but I have to wait a little longer as I'm eight months younger!

Covidcorvid · 11/02/2021 18:08

Hope so, Dd is in group 6 and I’d really like her done soon.

Bluntness100 · 11/02/2021 18:09

You need to factor in the people getting their second dose op. But they are forecasting by the end of April everyone over fifty should have had their first dose,

FuzzyPuffling · 11/02/2021 18:09

No chance here..still doing groups 1-4 and no idea of when they'll have any further vaccines for anyone else. (Info straight from the PCN today)

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 11/02/2021 18:13

What about second jabs ? You haven't taken them into account and many will start being due

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 11/02/2021 18:15

Also my friend age 53 not cev had text invite for gp and going in next few days , yet my dad ages over66 just got his letter to book and my mum early 60's not got invite and we are all in same couple miles of each other , makes no sense

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 11/02/2021 18:33

I really hope so, I’m group 6 (T1 diabetes) and can’t wait to get mine. My area posted about a week ago that they were pretty much CJ there with groups 1-4 so I’m hoping it won’t be too long, although I am aware that group 6 is a large group of people.

GintyMcGinty · 11/02/2021 18:34

Scotland has just announced a delay for the next groups and a slowing down of current. My parents (71 and 74) were supposed to get their jags today but due to over bookings have been postponed another 10 days.

Pastanred · 11/02/2021 18:35

Lancashire

Mums 64 healthy was done last week

Dancingalong · 11/02/2021 18:41

My mum is group 6 and having hers on Saturday.

3littlewords · 11/02/2021 18:45

I hope so my df is group 5 we are desperate for him to get it especially as his job takes him in several different houses each day

Dogsarehairy · 11/02/2021 18:50

I am so confused

What group is CEV and when will they be done if early 50s?

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 11/02/2021 18:54

I think judging by the new strains being found, it's extremely unlikely that lockdown will be lifted and schools go back. This Government move the goalposts constantly, they lie constantly and they wonder why 2 Million ECV people do not trust them enough to get the vaccine!

nether · 11/02/2021 18:54

What group is CEV and when will they be done if early 50s?

CEV (formally shielding, with letter) is group 4 and should be completed by mid-Feb (they're in that headline top priority govt pledge group)

And that's all CEV age 16 and upwards. If they'd you, you can now ring up to make your booking (same priority as 70+)
