All of groups 5 and 6 in 20 days?

pinkhappy · 11/02/2021 16:45

According to coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/vaccinations we are doing about 433,000 vaccinations a day on average. There are 2.4+6.1=8.5 million people in groups 5 and 6. This means we could do them all in 20 days!!

Is that really possible? If so, wow.

What group is CEV and when will they be done if early 50s?.

CEV should be able to book online now as they are in 1-4.

CEV is being done now group 4. Group 5 is 65-70. Group 6 is the CV aged 16-64.

pinkhappy · 11/02/2021 18:57

I got my numbers from www.local.gov.uk/parliament/briefings-and-responses/briefing-vaccine-prioritisation . Is that out of date now?

Im in Scotland. My MIL & FIL (both well under 70) got theirs today. My mum is 70 in June and she's getting hers on Saturday.

kitschplease · 11/02/2021 20:09

DM is 65 and got invited today for a jab at the weekend!

I posted this ten days ago on another thread:

It is looking as though the target of groups 1-4 (15m people) will be met around 15th Feb. Assuming vaccination capacity continues to increase and manages to reach 4 million vaccinations per week from late February, then by this time, the demand for second vaccinations will also be growing, so I would say that 2m first vaccinations and 2m second vaccinations each week would be a better estimate.

There are about 20m people in groups 5-9 so this will take 10 weeks taking us up to 16th April. Then, allowing for those already vaccinated and any refuseniks, there are approx 3m people left in each 5-year age band, so each will take 1.5 weeks. Everyone over 20 could be have received a first dose in the following 9 weeks, taking us up to the 28th June.

GU24Mum · 11/02/2021 20:41

Also (which is good..) there's overlap in the groups as far as I understand ie there may be X million health workers in Group 2 but they also show up in their age category (and possible in the clinically vulnerable category) and are vaccinated in the first group they're eligible for.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 11/02/2021 20:43

That's great news! I'm group 6. 56, so 2 groups ahead of my age
The management of the pandemic has been a bit of a shitshow, but the rollout has been amazing

Athinginitself · 11/02/2021 23:04

Theres a lot of overlap between groups which will help speed things up.

RunnerDown · 11/02/2021 23:06

@GintyMcGinty

In England maybe but no chance in Scotland. They aren't even meeting the targets for the over 70s.
I know people in their 60s , not clinically vulnerable, who have had their first vaccination. In Scotland .
Spring2021 · 11/02/2021 23:08

Still on group 4 where we live.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 11/02/2021 23:09

Im Group 6. Being vaccinated Monday

Rillington · 11/02/2021 23:13

Our area have stopped at group 4 as other areas are behind. Other areas seem to be able to carry on. There should be one policy not different ones for different areas.

Angel2702 · 11/02/2021 23:14

I think group six will be a lot larger than they anticipate, there are still thousands of Carers who aren’t registered with their GP and either aren’t aware they need to do so or are being given wrong info from GP. Ditto those in the BMI over 40 group many won’t have an up to date weight recorded and will not be listed anywhere. If all of these missed people come forward the group will grown considerably.

ittakes2 · 13/02/2021 19:06

I hope so! Also hoping to be vacinated before high schools go back. Our area is starting this week on 65-69.

Pastanred · 13/02/2021 20:10

The carers list can literally include anyone who caring for an elderly relative

They don’t need to be registered or anything

This cohort can be massively abused by anyone who’s in a bubble with a single parent

Even if parent doesn’t need looking after

I know many planning on doing this and most work from home all week

Oblomov21 · 13/02/2021 20:12

In Surrey we are doing group 7 and moving onto 8, the under 55's soon. So done areas are way ahead.

The GP will cross reference the person they care for’s records to confirm any care needs. With elderly there would be some expectation that they would be receiving attendance allowance if they have care needs.

Even if they fall behind a little it's still a better outlook than we've had until now

itsgettingwierd · 13/02/2021 21:09

Also da is group 6 and I'm a registered carer for him (officially) but I had mine weeks ago due to working in sen school and have my second mid April.

So overlap is true

Pastanred · 13/02/2021 21:12

I’ve just googled elderly carer and there is no evidence needed at all

They can't here.
stillundecided · 13/02/2021 21:18

My son is group 6, age 16. He got a vaccine invitation today.

Pastanred · 13/02/2021 22:24

CEV should be done now regardless of age

They are here in lancs and livwrpool

Angel2702 · 13/02/2021 23:59

You have to register with GP as a carer and they will ask about the person you care for. You have to be recorded on their notes as well as yours so need their consent for GP to access records. If there is no evidence of care needs they will question it. No system perfect at stopping it being abused but if everyone is being done anyway it won’t make that much difference.
