Christmas normal?

ParlezVousWronglais · 05/02/2021 18:54

Will we have a completely normal Christmas?

@TheKeatingFive

I’m not sure what’s to be gained by speculating like this.

Here’s hoping it’s better than last Christmas anyway.

I took DS 7 out food shopping this week for the first time since June. He got a few treats like sweets and a comic. He was so thrilled and announced that it was better than Christmas. Fair point. It was more stimulating and exciting than another day of lockdown in the house.
knittingaddict · 05/02/2021 19:56

Ahh, don't be mean folks. Smile

For what it's worth (not much), I think next Christmas will be back to normal.

Yes we will OP. Better get the sprouts on Grin
ConeHat · 05/02/2021 20:02

I try to not look past the next month, but it's got to better than last Christmas surely? I would be ecstatic right now if Christmas 2021 was a bag of chips with my sister and mum.

I am hopeful that what ever it's like I will make the best of it that's for sure. Not taking things for granted ever again

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 05/02/2021 20:04

Think I’ve reached the peak of the MN / Coronavirus apex.

Not in a good way.

InFiveMins · 05/02/2021 20:05

Probably not. Can't see an end to this shit.

ilovesooty · 05/02/2021 20:06

Ffs

1 how would we know?
2 it's fucking February Shock

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 05/02/2021 20:06

@frozendaisy

OMFG.....
Exactly that!!

I've still got my decorations up!
(This weekends job is to finally give in to feeling weird about it & put them
away) I just love the lights & sparkle. I'm going to put some pretty white twinkly lights up instead).

Weallfloatdownhere · 05/02/2021 20:07

Can we get through the first week of Feb first?! 😂😂😂

ParlezVousWronglais · 05/02/2021 20:12

Yes we will OP. Better get the sprouts on

I’m having sprouts tonight I love them! They’re still just about decent early Feb.

To be fair, the OP is just articulating what we’re all thinking. It’s definitely the key issue.

Really? 😁
Brighterthansunflowers · 05/02/2021 20:50

FFS there’s absolutely no point worrying about Christmas in February when nobody has a clue what’s happening even next month. If this is the biggest issue in your life congratufuckinglations

lunapeace · 05/02/2021 20:52

@Brighterthansunflowers that's really rude. Some people literally have sod all in their life and Christmas can bring them a lot of joy.

DenisetheMenace · 05/02/2021 20:54

Completely normal, hmmm, not sure. Our close family will all have been jabbed by then though and we’ll see each other for first time since Christ 2019. That will do us 😃

wanderings · 05/02/2021 20:54

Ask Saint Boris, the patron saint of divination, who told us with complete certainty:
"We can turn this virus around in twelve weeks."
"Normalish by Christmas."
"It would be inhumane to cancel Christmas."
"Schools are safe."
"I hope to see significant normality by Easter." (Er... did I say which Easter?)

Found some stuffing balls I’d made in November, frozen and forgotten about. Cause for celebration, whoohoo !

Yes, this! And if he forms words suggesting something will happen on the Christmas front, expect the polar opposite...
PrincessNutNuts · 05/02/2021 21:56

Think ahead to the summer, not Christmas.

user1497873278 · 05/02/2021 22:19

Are you that fucking bored, or are you just thick, wait a minute I’ll ask Boris 😬

Whatever9999 · 05/02/2021 22:28

I had a almost normal Christmas just gone. But we only ever celebrate as a nuclear family. Only thing i didn't do was go to midnight mass, which is my own little tradition to do on my own. The Christmas before I spent in bed, ill with what I'm 99% sure was covid.

Aiaiaicorona · 06/02/2021 00:23

I bloody hope so I’ve ordered a massive turkey!

DarceyDashwood · 06/02/2021 08:41

The obsession with Christmas is one of the reasons we are in such a mess now. It’s the last thing we should be worrying about! And I say that as someone who loves Christmas and was so sad not to see family last year. Christmas will be looked back on as one of the massive fuck ups

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 06/02/2021 08:42

@Aiaiaicorona already?! Why so early? Not snarky but genuinely interested.

IsitSummeryet21 · 06/02/2021 09:02

I reckon so

And I've started my Xmas shopping!
But not as much as I normally would have haha
