WTF is going on at EON.

People cant top up their pre payment meters. The app has been down for ten days. There are ppl on their fb page who are saying their electric has gone off. Not on in usual times but in a pandemic?? This is the 2020s FFS. We top up ours with a key but it didnt work so they are sending out a new one, but after telling us to go to the corner shop and get a key after giving us a code. And to ring Eon from the shop and pass the mobile phone to the shop assistant so they can talk him/her through it. Yep Great advice in a pandemic EON. Sharing mobiles. We are okay for a little while because we have kept topping up when possible as advised to do so last March. But the time they are taking to sort their shit out is worrying. Other families and disabled ppl have lost electric. Not good enough.

Haven’t read the link yet but thanks for posting this as not on top up or pre pay but have wondered wtf is going on with Eon recently myself.

Got email asking for payment of latest Bill, website would not let me log on, App the same saying come back another time, have managed to pay it now but agree completely bizarre!

Could they be in some kind of financial difficulties?

I am not on a pre-pay meter but last month they took thousands of customers direct debits a second time a couple of weeks after the first one. Something is going on with their system that's for sure! I did get a refund thankfully.

Yes they left loads of customers short at Christmas.

Unless E.on pull their finger out and sort out the security breach thats causing pre pay customers electric to be cut off, a lot of people will have to break lockdown and move in with relatives

I am a carer for my mum. The smart reader states there is credit and today I find it's not accurate. No gas or electric and unable to reach anyone for help. Vulnerable lady now with freezer of waste food and no heating or energy. Went off in the night. Trying to ring but just stuck in queues. I am disgusted

Same problems with British gas. I've got a contract with them and want my annual boiler service (last one was Nov 2019).
Live chat is down. No answer on phone. No response to I. M
Have found that lots of engineers are on strike which doesn't help. Yet they are plugging their fab boilers... Nobody to fit em though.
We'll have to change provider.

Nabuh energy (small supplier, mainly prepayment meters) also had problems last week with people unable to top up. I thought the suppliers agreed not to cut anyone off for the duration of the pandemic?

I can recommend Octopus Energy. They always answer the phone quickly and have UK employees ! No overseas call centres

@CoffeeandCroissant They are probably hoping MSM wont cover it much apart from the two articles upthread. Due to wall to wall Covid coverage. But its connected because obvs people wont be able to practise good hygiene, cook etc. Could well end up having to go to relatives.
Not to mention those with medical conditions on machines at home that require electric to function.

We’ve had brilliant service from British Gas - they fixed our boiler last year under the home cover when it was properly on its last legs ! I can’t remember when our boiler got serviced - I think after the first lockdown but I know our cover continues regardless. We get our energy from Octopus because they were cheapest and I have an EV, but Octopus lose money so I’m sure their prices will take a hike when we come to renew......

No idea gets the story is at E.on - I used to work for a cyber security company - there’s no excuse for cyber attacks in this day and age.

What a nightmare , i hate pre payment meter , i forgot to top up once and went away for a couple of days and came back to a defrosted freezer , as doesn't automatically switch to emergency credit.

Can't top up at all now. This is just ridiculous. There are vulnerable people and families who depend on a reliable gas and electricity service, and who are now off supply due to utter incompetence. It was bad before but it's not even usable now. As a disabled person who needs all day heating and can't be dealing with the lack of accessibility or the stress, I'll be switching as soon as possible

can't top up as your app and website are down. Even tho emergency credit is available and I select it it's not going on. If rang top up line and it keeps saying checking my details then says call can't be handled at this time please call back later... what can I do as no calls and no live chat options

EON have had these problems for over a MONTH now. Im bloody angry because people who are following the rules arent even guaranteed the electric they have PAID for (which will make it impossible to do lockdown. Imagine the spread if we all have to go to relatives + there are people on oxygen/dialysis at home who will have to go to hospital) while others are swanning off round the world.
No doubt if people have to go to relatives it will be blamed on us

Absolutely nasty company...still waiting for a call and 7 days later nothing and now no electricity again...what on earth kind of service are u running...I'm on home oxygen and suffer from chronic suicidal headaches and this is how u treat people... someone needs to sort this out before I take this further today

E.On are a nightmare. (So are Symbio - don't go with them - I've just changed and changed again because they were so bad). Hope you get it sorted. I've just moved to Octopus (£50 off if you use this code share.octopus.energy/reed-bloom-963)

This company think its acceptable to leave a disabled gentleman 7 hours (upto now) with no heating or hot water in -2 temperatures due to them not sending the payment card when was meant to. Meter locked out with credit on and needs card to activate. Then expect him to go and collect a card despite telling the call handler multiple times that he is shielding and cant go anywhere. Absolute disgrace!

been without gas since Tuesday. Tried many shops to obtain a card! After 2 days I managed to get a card. For it not to work

Your company has given me plenty of shops to try. I have spent the last 3 days going around shops in my area and had no luck! I’ve lost 2 days work with no pay, because of you! I can’t even cook food for my children!! Disgusting

I topped up this morning, electricity hasn’t hit the meter, no electricity, not letting me use emergency, no further payments working, no one on online chat, can’t get through on phone.
I have a small child who now can’t do his homeschooling, I can’t cook food, we have no heating electricity or hot water.
This has happened countless times since January. And during covid times we have nowhere to go.
It’s awful.

Absolutely SHOCKING of a company. Topped up via the phone an hour ago and still no bloody power. Been on hold for nearly the hour.. No reply from the online chat and guess what, no reply on messenger. Every week there is an ISSUE.
