Can’t find anything online - does anyone know?

He’s on at 5 (ish, of course)

I think this is one of the more frequent briefings they promised us rather than definite announcement in the offing.

But homily on less contact or we’ll outlaw it is pretty likely

Thank you!!

Matt Hancock announced tighter restrictions for many just before Christmas.

Boris did say he would be doing regular updates again so this should be just that, to let us know how we are getting with our vaccination aims etc.

ginsparkles · 11/01/2021 16:10

I doubt it. Both Hancock and Whitty have said today that people following the existing rules is what's important. Tonight is about vaccine roll out. We had been told that from today we will get daily updates on how many have been vaccinated so I suspect tonight is just an update.
It's too early to review restrictions, they have only been in place 6 days and only law for about 3.

Madcats · 11/01/2021 16:11

I think this is a "look we've opened some more vaccination hubs and we've vaccinated 2 million since mid-December" briefing.

There will also be a "please follow the rules", bit.

craftbeer · 11/01/2021 16:12

My god, is it only 6 days!

rslsys · 11/01/2021 16:12

16:30 according the the Freeview channel guide. Although I doubt Boris will actually commence "Erming" until after 17:00

UpShutTheFuck · 11/01/2021 16:15

Boris isn't doing it. It's Matt Hancock.

Today is the 300th of March 2020.
Love2cycle · 11/01/2021 16:20

6 days!!! That surprised me too!!

Calmandmeasured1 · 11/01/2021 16:21

Last week the PM said, in response to a question about vaccination updates that he would give an update on Thursday (which he did) and then regular (daily?) updates from Monday (today). I think tonight's will be about numbers that have had vaccines plus probably telling us about the Moderna one that has been approved too.

Katie517 · 11/01/2021 16:24

There are no announcements today it’s a vaccine briefing. They have confirmed that following the current rules is what’s needed at the moment

PuppyMonkey · 11/01/2021 16:26

It’s definitely about the vaccine. They’ve just published a big document outlining the exact timescale of the programme so I think it’ll focus on that.

TramaDollface · 11/01/2021 16:31

He’s already spoken at length from a vaccine centre today so I think yes it’s more restrictions

MindatWork · 11/01/2021 16:36

I don’t think they’ll be announcing anything tonight, but given that today’s news has been full of ‘the govt has not ruled out further restrictions’ I imagine it will be coming soon.

That seems to be this govt preferred method of deciding/announcing policy - seed ideas in media interviews and see how people react...before you know it, it’s being announced as new guidance.

PuppyMonkey · 11/01/2021 16:38

If Peston hasn’t tweeted about it, that means no new restrictions yet.Wink

Sandybanana7 · 11/01/2021 16:40

I think it’s just Matt Hancock today . Apologies haven’t read through the thread

stovetopespresso · 11/01/2021 16:49

my mil's vaccine appointment got canceled last week, so disappointing. hamcock can apologise for the smoke and mirrors surrounding promised deliveries not turning up

lazeeboy · 11/01/2021 16:50

Today is the 300th of March 2020 That is exactly how I feel. I really do mentally feel stuck in last March.
Not helped by the first lockdown actually working and then the government blowing it all on EOTHO, pubs, holidays open borders etc, so we are back here again in a worst situation than before.

GlobeUs · 11/01/2021 17:11

@PuppyMonkey do you have a link to that document please?

Eckhart · 11/01/2021 17:12

I love this. Utterly the most succinct way of phrasing it Smile

"Not helped by the first lockdown actually working and then the government blowing it all on EOTHO, pubs, holidays open borders etc, so we are back here again in a worst situation than before."

Totally agree. I can't for the life of me understand why the government aren't being held to account on this (and all the other shite decisons they have made). We needed to stay locked down for just a bit longer and to have a working test and trace system (which we still don't have). I think people just do not realize how terrible the situation is here in comparison to places liks Australia and New Zealand.

MarshaBradyo · 11/01/2021 17:15

No it’s more about vaccines
