Huge respect for Chris Witty dealing with a very difficult job.
But he isn't really the right person to front the Governments new video to tell people to stay at home.
Who would you use to get the message across to men, teenagers, deniers and other hard to influence people and what would they say ?

I’d like to see all party leaders doing joint message. United message.
Chris Whitty and others also. Medicine and science.
Nhs workers. The reality.
Military talking about helping with the vaccine effort.
Then those specifically talking more directly to younger bods - I’m not best placed to know who.
Plus calm dissection of fake news/conspiracy theories and why they are so dangerous right now.
I think we need a range of voices/faces.

If we’re at the point where we need ‘influencers’ doing public health messaging on social media, I fear civilisation is done for.

Are people wilfully misunderstanding the OP? She's not questioning Whitty's credentials to do his job, nor to be listened to by rational intelligent members of society such as those queuing up on this thread to state that.
The issue is not with Whittier himself but with the hard to reach members of society. How do we land the message with them? Do we just accept the won't listen to Whitty and shrug?!
I agree with a pp who stated Van Tam would be a good choice. His delivery is firmer and he appears a more relatable down- to- earth character.

I'm a huge fan of Whitty and have much respect from him but understand the OP's point. Who do we use? Real front line staff cutting in their experiences?

I think it would be good to have Chris Whitty but like pp have said perhaps a variety of other people saying the same thing.
In the summer there were several radio ads with (alleged)bus drivers, coffee shop owners etc all saying the same thing about wearing masks , sanitizing etc.i imagine they were all actors but the point being there was range of different people.
However several social media or celeb influencers have been having parties, going to places for "work purposes " or off on holiday to Dubai. If one of them said it I doubt it would have any impact!

@herethereandeverywhere thank you for clarifying the point I was trying to make !
