DH just tested positive but we have 3 DCs who are clinically extremely vulnerable.

DH just received email informing him that he’s had a positive test. Not surprising really when lots of colleagues have it. But he’s tried to be really vigilant, wearing kn95 masks, hand washing etc because of our kids. Now that he’s tested positive, coughing, tight chest, fatigued, we’re left wondering what to do. The DCs are teenagers so old enough to understand the risks and to know that they’ve all had shielding letters. I’ve had one as well. I’m terrified now and I know we’ve got to wait 14 days to see if one of us has it too. Already one dc has temperature and headache! Anyone offer any kind words of support or advice, it would be most welcome.

@Dogatetheleftovers I’m so glad you’re home and that the dc are mostly doing ok. Please rest as much as you can xx

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 28/01/2021 23:19

Good to read you're home but sorry to read about the pneumonia.

jpclarke · 28/01/2021 23:30

I am so glad to hear you are home, I know you are still sick but recovering in your own bed will hopefully be more comfortable for you and I hope you won't be as stressed about your family with them all close by. I know as a carer it is hard to take time off for yourself but please do try. I am sorry to reach one of your dc still have effects of CoVid. I hope they too improve soon. Rest up and plenty of fluids and I hope you all get back to "normal" soon ThanksThanksThanks

Memom · 29/01/2021 08:47

So glad you're home. Hope you're able to take the time you need to properly recover. Time isn't always available as a carer I know but fingers crossed you manage a bit of down time.

Take care Thanks

steppemum · 29/01/2021 11:50

so pleased to see your update. Funny how much you can worry about someone you have never met on a screen!

Oh, how wonderful. Stay warm and safe and give yourself every chance to heal up well.

alreadytaken · 29/01/2021 15:18

Glad you are improving, at least now you dont have to be worried about catching it - been there and it's done it's worst.

Dontjudgeme101 · 29/01/2021 21:33

Glad your home and on the mend.💐

Smashedavacado · 29/01/2021 21:44

Oh my goodness what a relief to read your updates @Dogatetheleftovers. Strange to say that about a total stranger but that's Mumsnet for you! So pleased you're home. I had covid at Xmas very mildly but know about the anxiety it causes. Hope you are really resting and your family are recovering slowly too.

SirVixofVixHall · 29/01/2021 21:59

So glad you are home OP, what a terrible time, I wish you speedy recovery.

Only just seen your thread tonight. So so happy for you that you’re home and getting better.
Please do call on whoever you can to make life easier while you recover x

Whichnamepls · 29/01/2021 23:50

So pleased you are home. Not so good about the pneumonia - I hope you're okay.

My DM had it a few years ago and it took her a while to fully get over it, so take it easy.

Orchidflower1 · 30/01/2021 09:59

How are things @Dogatetheleftovers ? 💐

Dogatetheleftovers · 30/01/2021 13:23

It’s so lovely to read everyone’s messages, thank you so much. It’s the best medicine. I’m ok but have some strange symptoms lingering, my taste has changed completely so everything tastes horrible. My muscles ache to the point of being painful. The hospital rang me yesterday for a follow up and the doctor explained that I need to have a chest x ray in 12 weeks to check there’s been no long term damage to my lungs. Also have to have blood test in a month for liver function as that’s abnormal at the moment. Doctor advised me to eat and drink lots to enable body to recover properly. Apparently protein is really important. I’ve also now got Fortisip drinks to help me. But I am so thankful to have got through this ordeal. It was truly terrifying and I’m so happy to be able to still be here for my kids. My youngest dc who is autistic has been overwhelmed by this situation and she is feeling very anxious about my health now. I’m just trying to take things easy while DH is off work so that I can regain my strength. Have a lovely weekend everyone. 💐
