DH just tested positive but we have 3 DCs who are clinically extremely vulnerable.

DH just received email informing him that he’s had a positive test. Not surprising really when lots of colleagues have it. But he’s tried to be really vigilant, wearing kn95 masks, hand washing etc because of our kids. Now that he’s tested positive, coughing, tight chest, fatigued, we’re left wondering what to do. The DCs are teenagers so old enough to understand the risks and to know that they’ve all had shielding letters. I’ve had one as well. I’m terrified now and I know we’ve got to wait 14 days to see if one of us has it too. Already one dc has temperature and headache! Anyone offer any kind words of support or advice, it would be most welcome.

It's a relief for you that your family are all recovering well, you have been so strong through this and hopefully you take time to rest now and you will be recovering soon too ThanksThanksThanksStarStar

Hopefully day 15 means you’re out of the woods. A relief everyone else is through, I hope that is helping you feel less anxious and focus on your recovery. Thanks for updating, I’m another one who was wondering how you were getting on.

Staffy1 · 23/01/2021 01:47

Just read through all your posts. What a worrying and horrible time you've had OP. Hoping it's all going to get better for you from now.

Oh @Dogatetheleftovers thank you for your update. I too am a random stranger worried about you and praying for you from the start of the thread.

I’m glad to hear that the rest of the family are improving but sorry to hear you’re in hospital. Praying you improve quickly and are home to your own bed soon.

So good to hear from you, I’ve been thinking of you and your family lots. So glad to hear the others are doing much better and fingers crossed you will be soon too. Take it very easy and rest lots, focus on your own health now (not always easy as a parent I know)

Cantchooseaname · 23/01/2021 07:09

Hope you are managing to rest, you are on such a roller coaster. Perhaps the fact that the others are getting better means you can focus on looking after yourself?

Anonanon12 · 23/01/2021 07:16

Glad you're back home op, keep up with vitamin d, lots of fluids and perhaps some electrolyte drinks if you have any and let everyone look after you now they are better, hopefully you are through the worst now and will start having days where you don't feel any worse and then start to get better

If you have a spray bottle you can make up a solution 1 part bleach to 5 parts water to disinfect surfaces.

Good to hear from you @Dogatetheleftovers Flowers wishing you a speedy recovery

IthinkIm · 23/01/2021 08:18

Oh OP thank you for updating, I've been checking this thread every day in the hope that there would be good news. I'm glad you're family are recovering and hope you're fully on the mend soon too.

I read that as though you're in hospital now, if so I'm sure they are taking care of you. Try and rest and remain positive. We are all here for you Thanks

Pinkyxx · 23/01/2021 08:31

@Dogatetheleftovers So glad to hear from you OP. I'm another random internet stranger who has been checking in every day to see how you're doing.

I'm not sure if this is any comfort but I'll share just in case. My daughter had Covid in early December, it seemed to go on and on forever. The turning point was between days 18-20 where symptoms first started to abate. Thereafter she mostly recovered by day 23, most symptoms were gone leaving only residual tiredness & a very slight cough. It was a long haul to say the least so I feel for you so much.

Hopefully you'll start to feel better soon x x x

moominmomma1234 · 23/01/2021 08:48

Oh i have been thinking about you everyday! I am so relieved to hear your children and husband are on the mend and i am sure you are going to turn a Corner soon.
I know your children, esp your daughter , must be missing you terribly while you are in hospital. I have an autistic child myself so i know how much you mean to her. I cant wait to read that you are back home and recovering, and then you can put this terrible chapter of your life behind you

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2021 08:50

I'm really sorry to hear that, Dog. Hoping you are feeling much better very soon. Flowers

DiamanteFan · 23/01/2021 08:55

Thank you for updating OP, from another random lurker who has been checking this thread and wishing you well from afar. Sorry to hear you are still unwell. Best wishes

IamHyouweegobshite · 23/01/2021 08:58

Sorry to see you've been so poorly. I had covid Nov/Dec, I then developed pleurisy, you mention the pain in your upper back. Is it under a shoulder blade? That's where mine was, I needed 2 course of steroids and 3 courses of antibiotics to get better. Please take care, 2 months on and I'm coughing lots still, asthma still bad and so very tired.

Jasminesmellingcandles · 23/01/2021 09:09

Thinking of you OP, hoping today is a day you feel some improvement.

Velvian · 23/01/2021 09:14

Hope you start to feel better soon, op. Flowers

IcanandIwill · 23/01/2021 09:17

Bohoboo · 23/01/2021 09:24
