DH just tested positive but we have 3 DCs who are clinically extremely vulnerable.

DH just received email informing him that he’s had a positive test. Not surprising really when lots of colleagues have it. But he’s tried to be really vigilant, wearing kn95 masks, hand washing etc because of our kids. Now that he’s tested positive, coughing, tight chest, fatigued, we’re left wondering what to do. The DCs are teenagers so old enough to understand the risks and to know that they’ve all had shielding letters. I’ve had one as well. I’m terrified now and I know we’ve got to wait 14 days to see if one of us has it too. Already one dc has temperature and headache! Anyone offer any kind words of support or advice, it would be most welcome.

Thinking of you OP.

You’ve totally done the right thing. I have one of those oxygen readers too and it has given us weird readings too but even if you get to a hospital with a really good machine then that’s a good thing. Afraid your husband has to take over for a while, you need to concentrate on yourself for a while x

You've done the right thing and hopefully it won't be too long before you can be seen.

Hi we had 2/3 positive. Kept separate bowls and cups for myself and used disposable flushable toilet covers which I had some left from holiday and ventilated the bathroom (have one bathroom only). I also used wipes to clean switches and door handles but honestly was hard to keep doing that. Ordered lot of crackers and soups as that's all we could eat. Microwave food ready to heat for my son. We all FaceTimed each other from rooms to reassure we are ok but it was really hard and you just wanted to sit together on sofa for once. Best wishes!

redferrari · 16/01/2021 22:21

Oh seen the update, hope you feel better soon

AmongUs · 16/01/2021 22:45

jpclarke · 16/01/2021 23:06

What a terrible week you and your family have been through, wishing you all positive vibes and I hope you all start to feel better soon. I hope your trip to a&e went ok. You sound incredibly strong and I hope you can get through this 🤞🤞

LickEmbysmiling · 16/01/2021 23:07

As an aside, how do ill people get to a and e? Op maybe not bad enough for ambulance, I don't know but would she drive herself? If her dh also not well.

As another aside this is why it's important to keep cars ticking over.

Op it's good you're getting help quickly. Flowers

It's hard to feel so alone with this thing.

You're in my thoughts OP.

I hope you managed to get assessed in person, had some reassurance and can get some much needed rest. You have been so strong holding it together and propping everybody up whilst battling the virus yourself too.

Orchidflower1 · 17/01/2021 06:55

Morning @Dogatetheleftovers I hope you managed to get help at wherever you went you.
I know myself as a mum you feel that you need to do the things yourself for your dc but I’m sure your dh can do them just as well- particularly if they are his dc too. Let him lighten the load so you get well too.
