Boris: Schools are safe the anxiety we have as a government is their role in spreading the disease

It's the mingling that's the problem and not the schools.

Oh and secondary schools are a bit of a problem and we will have to look at what happens to them later this month

All on SKY news atm.

Has he just released a statement, or giving a love interview?

Nochangeplease · 04/01/2021 11:47

Live

MissMarpletheMurderer · 04/01/2021 13:01

He just gave a live interview, I will try and find the link

If that is the case and children at primary schools are safe and teachers are safe why close them in london in the first place?

Beebityboo · 04/01/2021 13:04

Is he really not going to close the primaries? I am in such anxiety Sad

missyB1 · 04/01/2021 13:08

It’s so bizarre that I actually laughed out loud the first time I heard him say it! What he seems to be saying is “school buildings are safe but what actually happens in schools isn’t” This bumbling idiot talks such shit.
Like parents and teachers were worried about the building 🙄

LacyEdge · 04/01/2021 13:11

Relieved to discover you can’t get Covid from brick walls! PHEW.

Is this man serious?

TrySarahTops · 04/01/2021 13:14

Just seen that on BBC News. It's an interesting contrast to Jeremy Hunt's recent tweets:

Barbie222 · 04/01/2021 13:17

What he seems to be saying is “school buildings are safe but what actually happens in schools isn’t”

That's what I heard too lol.

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2021 13:19

I do NOT like the sound of a love interview with Boris Johnson. Bleugh.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/01/2021 13:19

So schools can stay but we can't use them?

noblegiraffe · 04/01/2021 13:21

I saw a tweet last night that said 'the beaches are safe, it's just the mingling of sharks and people that's a problem'.

User158340 · 04/01/2021 13:24

Guns are safe as long as you don't use them.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 04/01/2021 13:25

The most illogical ill-thought through drivel I have ever heard. You couldn't make it up. The man really needs a slap with a wet fish. 'Duh, so wtf are you going to do to make the "mingling" safe?'

LacyEdge · 04/01/2021 13:25

The virus is safe. It’s just the mingling with our cells which is the issue.

IloveJKRowling · 04/01/2021 13:26

Yeah, this.

My experience is that public schoolboys in general (not all are like this but a lot) are taught that extreme confidence and spouting bullshit will get you a long way - obviously as he's prime minister. Extreme confidence in what you're saying, even if absolutely wrong, will actually convince a lot of people. Plus the confidence in their own wealth that even if it all goes tits up they'll be ok.

The problem with a pandemic is that lies are show up rather more easily (how many dead in the UK?) than in normal times.

Pissedoff1234 · 04/01/2021 13:28

And how can teachers not be more adversely affected by this than the average worker. My DH goes to work in place with the majority of people wfh and he wears a mask all day. Not the same as putting a non masked teacher in a small room with 30 bodies that aren't capable of SD. I know that the kids don't seem to be catching the disease and becoming really poorly but surely it's about who they take it home to. It doesn't take a genius to work this out as I'm not one but bloody hell, surely people aren't buying what he says.

If schools are safe then households mixing are safe. Bubbles are the biggest joke this government has thought up.

Beebityboo · 04/01/2021 13:31

I feel sick at the idea of sending the DC's back but if he is still parroting the "schools are safe" line it doesn't seem like primary closures are on the cards any time soon. What a nightmare.

thecatfromjapan · 04/01/2021 13:34

As people keep saying, never ever allow yourself to suffer from 'imposter syndrome' ever again.

(Yes. It's a bit of topic. But FFS. The 'Boris Johnson Charm' has given us a catastrofuck. We really need to learn from this.)

VettiyaIruken · 04/01/2021 13:36

So basically, the buildings themselves are absolutely fine, it's just the people in them that are the problem.

Like saying roads are 100% safe, it's just cars on them that are the problem.

Guns are no danger at all. It's just people using them that causes the danger.

Drugs are absolutely safe, it's just people taking them that's the problem.

😂😂😂

MegtheShark · 04/01/2021 13:39

Or in the case of eco teachers, staff, parents and children...

‘Pointing a gun at someone is completely safe, it’s the mixing of a bullet with their head that is dangerous’.

MichelleofzeResistance · 04/01/2021 13:39

So the only problem with schools is all the children and people in them?

Grin

That's almost as desperate as Barnard's Castle being part of a reasonable eye test.

MegtheShark · 04/01/2021 13:39

*ecv

IloveJKRowling · 04/01/2021 13:40

Not the same as putting a non masked teacher in a small room with 30 bodies that aren't capable of SD

Yes - in rooms that are too small to SD, and the latest data is that kids transmit the new variant more than adults.

BeyondThunderdome · 04/01/2021 13:40

Guns don't kill people, rappers do?
