I look most days at the figures in my area and we are now 104 cases per 100,000. It was 160 the week before Christmas.

We have had no cases in my child's school, no bubble has closed since Sep. I feel we can't treat the whole country in the same way, I don't think all schools need to close like people are demanding. We are tier 3 now but when cases were higher we were tier 2?

No. It's shooting up where I live. Cases have doubled in a week.

Shooting up here in my part of the Midlands (Black Country).

thecutback · 03/01/2021 17:54

Where is everyone getting up to date figures?

JayDot500 · 03/01/2021 17:56

Ours was around 400 per 100k a month and a half ago, then it shot up to 1200k two weeks later. It's now hovering around 1k per 100k.

DS' school went from no cases to outbreak (school closed/7 out of 9 classes had bubbles burst) in the space of 5 days, so I wouldn't get complacent with this virus at all.

If you google. bbc local coronavirus cases, you can put in your postcode and it comes up with the figures.

Devon here too @hettyhooverdoover

I honestly feel that the way we live down here - small, close knit communities, fewer shops etc has really helped to keep infections low pretty much throughout.

JayDot500 · 03/01/2021 18:04

@hettyhooverdoover south Essex

Yes and very spread out. It was going higher 2 or 3 weeks ago but I can't understand how its dropped really low when everywhere else is spreading rapidly.

Ours has gone down. It was very high about a month ago. We’re in West Yorkshire

raviolidreaming · 03/01/2021 18:05

These aren't up-to-date though, really. Figures are currently for the week ending 28/12 (27/12 for Scotland) and looking at the national figures have likely changed now we're 9 days post-Christmas.

Delatron · 03/01/2021 18:06

Yes I think cases in the SW won’t sky rocket.

We are in Bucks and clearly the mutant super spreading variant is here. We were doing ok up until end of November.

No cases in either DS school in the half term before Christmas. It really has been the last two weeks cases have shot up.

thecutback · 03/01/2021 18:06

BBC isn't up to date, only up to the 28th.

I look at the gov.U.K. Interactive map.

RaspberryCoulis · 03/01/2021 18:07

We are in suburban Glasgow. Our cases are a up a bit, but have been in the 100 - 200 range per 100,000 for weeks. Certainly not seeing the dramatic rises which are being experienced elsewhere.

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/01/2021 18:08

Somerset keeps going up Sad

Madhairday · 03/01/2021 18:08

Ours has doubled in a week (west mids)

Elephant4 · 03/01/2021 18:10

Well ours has lowered from 900 and something to 800 and something.

Not sure whether that’s something to get excited about.

x2boys · 03/01/2021 18:11

Ours are going back up again 😭I'm in Bolton at one point our figures were over 500/ 100,000 we got down to around 140/100,000 we are now at 210/100,000

oohmamama · 03/01/2021 18:13

@hettyhooverdoover

I think we are prone to clusters here which then don't expand massively because of the way that we live. I think the rocketing recently was due to a couple of major clusters which then die out rather than expand.

My theory anyway.
