Why are we not allowed to discuss the modern matron on Twitter discussing children in hospital with covid?

OP posts:
Dee96 · 01/01/2021 22:20

Very confused the title of the thread seemed appropriate enough. Wondering if this one will go too?

Twickerhun · 01/01/2021 22:20

And this one will implode in 5, 4, 3....

HopeMumsnet · 01/01/2021 22:20

Hi all,
TillysMum02 has the idea. No conspiracy, this is a parenting site, of course you're allowed to discuss it, all we ask is that you do so with due regards to the truth. Mumsnet is justifiably well known for our members ability to interrogate research and to have a good poke at newspaper articles.

Porcupineintherough · 01/01/2021 22:20

TAAT - thread about a thread. These are not allowed.

BlueSkyAhead · 01/01/2021 22:20

@umpteennamechanges

I've started a new thread that doesn't reference other threads (mentions Telegraph in title)
Can u link please?
Pomegranatespompom · 01/01/2021 22:20

This isn’t correct - I was in a meeting yesterday discussing transferring paediatric patients to a central point to free up beds for adults - the numbers are very low.

Diverseduvet · 01/01/2021 22:24

Gold star for you Tillysmum!

HopeMumsnet · 01/01/2021 22:27

Star you can have one too, Diverseduvet!

Newyearsameme2021 · 01/01/2021 22:27

What? This is affecting children badly now?

Barbie222 · 01/01/2021 22:28

I wish we had more data on this.

Mrsmadevans · 01/01/2021 22:32

Just my twopence worth .To try to put this into perspective , l worked as a Paeds Nurse for the NHS on a local 27 bedded Childrens ward for 38 yrs. We regularly admitted over 20 children aged between 0 to 18 in a 24 hr period, it was our normal . This is for just one general little market town childrens ward, not a huge poulation , not a city just our small catchment area . As for these admissions being for Covid , l can't see any actual proof that it was for Covid in the twitter post l saw. This time of the year , the admissions for Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) & Asthma are extremely high both could be mistaken for Covid until tested. They have similar symptoms , cough, rapid breathing & tight chest. So it's possible a lot of these admissions may be suspected Covid until tested.

No, @Newyearsameme2021 . It isn't. But people are panicking and asking if it is,and convincing themselves things are worse than they are.

Just fyi there's this thread too, it's less obviously a thread about a thread so more likely to stay up and remain interesting.

BexR · 01/01/2021 22:42

Could be because it is terrifying and will cause a lot of anxiety, so mn want to verify the information before people panic?

The first line of your post completely negates the rest.
abitofpeace · 01/01/2021 22:43

There is definitely something weird happening here. No doubt Mumsnet s part of the schools propaganda machine!

TheKeatingFive · 01/01/2021 22:45

There are few threads still up, calm the fuck down everyone.

There are too many people on this site capable of losing all reason off the back of one random tweet. Try to understand the context and properly evaluate what the data is saying.

Pomegranatespompom · 01/01/2021 22:45

I doubt it - there have been many threads calling for schools to close and they’ve not been deleted.

This!
Goatscheesewithhoney · 01/01/2021 22:52

Perhaps because there have been several threads with alarming “click bait” type titles, designed to cause alarm to parents - at an already anxiety provoking time.

I recognised the name of one of the OPs - and it is a conspiracy theorist poster who only starts threads of an alarmist nature and who has been all the way through. Not that hard to imagine the same poster can name change/set up more accounts with the same agenda, and that mumsnet are aware of that...

Probably the same poster/posters making new posts now pointing to the ‘mumsnet conspiracy of silence’ 🤦🏼‍♀️

TillysMum02 · 01/01/2021 22:57

@TheKeatingFive I don’t know why but your “calm the fuck down” made me 😂

Mn is rarely calm
