When will we be able to holiday in the UK again?

What do you think? I didn’t get away at all last year so would love a short break somewhere in the UK, when we’re allowed to of course. Could it be as soon as the spring do you think?

I hope so, I've got 4 UK holidays booked for this year! I'm resigned to the fact that the one in March probably won't go ahead (fully refundable) but I'm hoping the ones from May onwards do.

Mincepiehangover · 01/01/2021 13:14

Hope so - got a May half term break booked am thinking it is more June than May so still got 6 months. Truth is, nobody knows but got fingers crossed xx

GenderApostate19 · 01/01/2021 13:19

Who knows?
I moved last year’s May ht break to this year so we will just wait and see.
Supposed to be going to Italy at Easter, can’t see that happening tbh.

Thefeep · 01/01/2021 13:25

We’ve got a caravan on site. I’m really hoping the site re-opens on March 1st. We lost £3k last year on site fees 🙄

Boohooyouho · 01/01/2021 13:31

I’m hoping for April onwards as we rent out our static caravan and lost around 4k of bookings last year. We’re lucky to be able to cover the site fees without booking a but many haven’t. Looking at the sites direct prices for this summer are shocking though

Boohooyouho · 01/01/2021 13:33

I also have trips booked in Feb, April, May, June and September. Not hopeful for the first three at all (May is abroad)

RememberSelfCompassion · 01/01/2021 13:37

We've booked a cottage in April. But Im really not sure now 😬

Caramel81 · 01/01/2021 13:41

I have a week in Dorset booked in July. We had to cancel it in 2020 so I’ll be so sad if we have to reschedule

boredinthouse · 01/01/2021 13:44

My DC has an week long school trip booked for March. School are still insisting that we make all the stupidly expensive payments as it's still going ahead. Doubt it somehow!

middleager · 01/01/2021 13:47

I don't know, which means I won't book yet. Which means everywhere will then be booked when I do feel confident enough holidays will go ahead.

I'm tier 4 and whereas the holiday accommodation might be available, doesn't mean we can travel Sad

KitKatastrophe · 01/01/2021 14:43

We've booked for March, but have booked a location with "covid cover" so if it has to be cancelled, we get our money all back.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/01/2021 14:48

We've got Butlins booked for Easter so I'm hoping then. Moved from last Easter!

TheAlphaandtheOmega · 01/01/2021 14:49

We have booked for March in our touring caravan but we don't pay any deposit and just go if we can, if not next break is in May, we will probably just book a few throughout the year and hope we can go on some. I can't envisage booking anything that is not in our caravan though.

busface999 · 01/01/2021 14:52

I wonder this too. We had five days in London booked in April 2020, we changed it free of charge to Feb 2021 - at the time it seemed covid would be a distant memory by then! - and clearly that won't be happening now. We are north east, tier 4. Not sure what the terms will be re. changing it yet again

treedragon · 01/01/2021 16:11

Why are people even booking holidays? It’s better to just leave all that until we get the full on all clear.

When did you book these five trips??!

Why when it's fully refundable?
Oddbutnotodd · 01/01/2021 16:20

Why even consider a holiday when the NHS is barely coping and the vaccine rollout has hardly started. By Easter it will still be pretty bad at this rate. Only a few people will have had 2 doses of the vaccine given the new strategy.

If you don't book it is more difficult or expensive to get booked in when or where you want

Maybe because people want something to look forward to and the later you leave it the less choice there'll be. In our case we are planning on moving and so want to check out some towns near where were staying.
U8myufo · 01/01/2021 16:23

I think for many people, holidays seem to be the thing that is concerning them the most at the moment Confused

TheAlphaandtheOmega · 01/01/2021 16:25

In fact this thread has made me realise I need to get a few more booked in

In your opinion it is. Others may have a whole range of reasons to think differently about it, as you can see from the responses already.

In our case we had two of last year's holidays automatically moved on a year (at the time it was that or louse the money altogether), so whilst I've not actively booked holidays for 2021, there are two in the calendar which may or may not happen.

Last year though, by anticipating different rule changes, we had two lovely UK breaks, both in completely remote places posing no risk to others. I can't see what's wrong with hoping for similar at this point.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/01/2021 16:32

When it’s safe enough.

JingsMahBucket · 01/01/2021 16:42

What part of “stay your ass at home until further notice” are people not getting? Nobody is owed a multi-day holiday especially during a global fucking pandemic. Stop being so entitled already. If people had stayed home last summer and fall you wouldn’t be in Tier 4 now!
