When will we be able to holiday in the UK again?

What do you think? I didn’t get away at all last year so would love a short break somewhere in the UK, when we’re allowed to of course. Could it be as soon as the spring do you think?

@JingsMahBucket

What part of “stay your ass at home until further notice” are people not getting? Nobody is owed a multi-day holiday especially during a global fucking pandemic. Stop being so entitled already. If people had stayed home last summer and fall you wouldn’t be in Tier 4 now!
What is it about holiday threads that brings out the holier than thous who begrudge everyone something to look forward to?

If restrictions are lifted then I will go on the holidays I've booked, if not then I obviously won't and I will get a refund. Jesus, no one is planning on leaving tier 4 and going to the Isles of Scilly for a week!

We’ve got one carried over from last May. Abroad. Nothing is predictable at the moment. We managed to get away last July though. When there was no vaccine. So I think with a vaccine then this summer is looking probable. Maybe June onwards. Of course people can book if they want. They are all fully refundable.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/01/2021 16:48

@JingsMahBucket people are talking about when it's safe. No one is talking about going on holiday right now. Get a grip.

Alwaysandforeverhere · 01/01/2021 16:53

We have two holidays moved from last year to this year and will be booking an august break just in case. It’s camping so we take our own accommodation, cooking facilities, toilet etc and obviously it’s outside so fingers crossed. The children need the adventure to run free abit again.

Boohooyouho · 01/01/2021 18:07

My Feb, April and May holidays have all been moved from earlier dates. Who knew in March last year when it was two weeks to flatten the curve that we’d still be in this mess a year later. June and September have been booked recently but are both fully refundable if they and go ahead

iwishiwasatcentralperk · 01/01/2021 18:13

My Easter break from last year was moved to October, and then to this coming Easter, but I won't be surprised if we are unable to go. However if we can go with limited facilities, then hopefully it should be warmer and more bearable than it would have been in October...

I won't be booking anything for this year unless it is fully refundable, so at the moment only have a 2 stay in a Premier Inn booked, which can be cancelled up to the same day.

looking at 4 nights somewhere in August, but again, will not book unless certain can cancel with full refund and will not book for a few months yet.

CarlGrimesRightEyeball · 01/01/2021 18:15

My ass will be staying somewhere other than home literally the second I'm "allowed" to book a hotel.

BonnieDundee · 01/01/2021 18:32

Theres no respite from the sanctimony. How dare you all look forward to a nice holiday Xmas Grin

I'm supposed to be going abroad in May but unlikely to happen Xmas Sad no it's not my main concern but I'm still allowed to be disappointed. That's not illegal yet is it?

Ginisatonic · 01/01/2021 18:40

I think by May or June it will be possible to get away in the U.K. personally though I’ll wait until I feel completely confident about that before booking.
We had a long haul holiday booked for April 20 which obviously didn’t go ahead and although it should have been refunded in full within 14 days it actually took 6 months. So that’s not an experience I want to repeat.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/01/2021 18:57

After being screwed by Sykes Holidays last year I read the Ts and Cs very carefully before booking this time! If any of the holidays are cancelled I can either move the dates, have a refund or hold the money on account. As they are all with the same agency I'll just move the payment along if we can't go.

I'm supposed to be going abroad in May but unlikely to happen fsad no it's not my main concern but I'm still allowed to be disappointed. That's not illegal yet is it?

Don't you know that, unless you're sitting indoors with bread and water and insisting this is how things will be from now on, you're not doing 'lockdown' properly?!

Never say never, we have celebs jetting off left right and centre to Dubai and Barbados.

This thread has prompted me to book a couple of nights for August. With free cancellation of course. And we had a week in July moved from 2020-2021. I am extremely cautious so won’t be going anywhere until things are much, much better, but I have a hunch that early summer things will very quickly change for the better.

rookiemere · 01/01/2021 19:00

Maybe I'm living in cloud cuckoo land, but if they can start rolling the vaccine out at pace, then I'm hoping by Easter it might be possible to at least holiday within Scotland which is where we stay.

Don't be silly

CarlGrimesRightEyeball · 01/01/2021 19:29

I thought it was Stay The Fuck At Home, rather than stay your ass at home. I am confused by the mixed messages. What should my ass be doing?

busface999 · 01/01/2021 20:34

This thread took a very strange turn since I last posted (where I said my April 2020 trip was pushed back to Feb 2021, and obviously won't be happening then either). I'm not sure why this leads people to believe I don't know how to keep my ass at home!? Or that I'm more concerned about my holidays than people dying!?

Personally, I'm a front line worker and have a shielding family member. Soooo.. definitely don't need to be reminded of the realities of the pandemic. Just happened to book a staycation before the pandemic began!

BonnieDundee · 01/01/2021 20:43

@PinkSparklyPussyCat Xmas Grin

@Onedayinthefuture you've given me hope
