Tier 4 people travelling to Tier 3

This is going to happen in our city. We are so very close to another county which is now in Tier 4.
They will be travelling to our barbers, our shops and indoor sport facilities etc. To access all the things that are closed in Tier 4.
There are a few main and obvious roads that could be monitored but there won't be enough police to do this. Then we will also be pushed to Tier 4 in a couple of weeks!

Yup, won't be long before a nationwide lockdown because people cannot follow rules

MrsMiaWallis · 30/12/2020 22:33

Yep. Going to happen here too. Tbh I can't really blame them.

MrsMiaWallis · 30/12/2020 22:35

Although my gym and hairdresser have already said noone from tier 4 allowed.

Frozenintime · 30/12/2020 22:36

If they had to produce proof of address it might stop some of this happening

southeastdweller · 30/12/2020 22:43

What's the point complaining about it? It'll happen anyway, nobody can do anything about it.

Bathroom12345 · 30/12/2020 22:44

Proof of address is actually a good idea.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/12/2020 22:46

Of course. Why wouldn't they?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/12/2020 22:47

won't be long before a nationwide lockdown because people cannot follow rules

won't be long before a nationwide lockdown because people cannot follow rules there is a respiratory disease pandemic

InTheNightWeWillWish · 30/12/2020 22:49

Yup, happened here. We were tier 2, everyone fled London to tier 2 areas, so we got pushed into tier 4 on Boxing Day.

RutlandVasey · 30/12/2020 22:51

Is anyone else from Rutland here?

Frozenintime · 30/12/2020 23:19

@RutlandVasey no

Well if that was the case, wouldn't we be in a lockdown already??
Vitaminsss · 30/12/2020 23:25

Lots of people in tier 3 travelled to tier 2 areas. Some places asked for proof of address or proof that everyone was from the same household. I believe police were doing road checks in the midlands according to someone on my socials

Eng123 · 30/12/2020 23:32

We were tier 4 next to a tier 2. We didn't feel the need to visit and I suspect most others didn't either. What does annoy me is that everything is still managing to stay open!

My sister lives in Stamford. But on the outskirts - closer to age Casterton than the town. She’s very frustrated by it all as can’t go to her nearest convenience shop as in Rutland!
WeMarchOn · 30/12/2020 23:36

We are currently tier 2 (tier 3 tomorrow) and apparently a neighbouring county (tier 4) came here shopping in the Boxing Day sales 🤦🏻‍♀️

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 30/12/2020 23:39

I have the opposite problem - am tier 3 but live on the border...all my kids activities (which are still on as the govt has sensibly prioritised kids sport) are just over the border in tier 4.....the temptation to just ignore and continue is enormous.

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 30/12/2020 23:49

Or maybe sport counts as ‘education’.....

99victoria · 30/12/2020 23:49

We live in a Tier 4 area but I work at a school in a Tier 3 area so no choice but to travel really!

RutlandVasey · 31/12/2020 00:05

Kirsty The Stamford tiers were a bit crazy, weren’t they?

BungleandGeorge · 31/12/2020 00:05

It’s not only about people going for leisure activities but there will be lots of people working in the tier 4 area. Also if they are close together crossing over for school, support bubbles, child care, looking after vulnerable relatives, hospital treatment. Unfortunately the spread is pretty inevitable, although I agree people shouldn’t be increasing it with non essential activities. Many tier 4 areas were tier 2 less than a week ago. It spread despite shops etc being widely open so the primary cause isn’t facility tourism!

PrincessConsuelaBananahamm0ck · 31/12/2020 00:18

Thanks for assuming 'they' in Tier 4 are not capable or responsible enough to follow guidelines. You talk like 'they' are all dimwits who deserve to be in Tier 4. I was happily plodding along in Tier 2, following all rules as I have since March, suddenly on Boxing Day I was living in Tier 4. Don't worry, I won't come to your shops and barbers to infect you all. Don't tar all the Tier 4 dimwits with the same brush. Happy new year.

Underhisi · 31/12/2020 00:28

Some tier 4 areas have lower rates than tier 3 areas. I think everywhere should be tier 4 and be done with it.

Apandemicyousay · 31/12/2020 00:29

“Everyone fled london”. Give us a break. They left about 8 million of us behind when they came to your town.

AndcalloffChristmas · 31/12/2020 00:32

I thought we’d got past the bit where people considered “tier 4 people” or “tier 2/3 people” as it was then as being at fault and deserving of restrictions. And those of us in the lower tier somehow had done better and deserved better.

The whole country’s going to go into lockdown soon so I wouldn’t worry about it.
