Those who have had COVID-19, what were your symptoms?

Just that really. Apart from the three main symptoms did you have any others and had a positive test result?
There are so many different things on the internet, be good to actually hear from real experiences.
I'm not feeling 100%, just like I'm coming down with a cold, but flipping covid is in the back of my mind 😬

I started with a sporadic cough which came from no where. Then I just had a tickly throat for 24 hours. Next came the mother of all headaches and a feeling of starting with flu. First week just felt like a hangover, tiredness and headaches. 2nd week, lost sense of smell and taste and suffered fatigue. 3rd week fatigue, achy muscles. 9 weeks in, still some aches and pains and altered taste.

balloon27 · 28/12/2020 00:04

Headaches , cold sweats , exhaustion , aches and pains , chest pains , tickly cough , weird sensation in throat wasn't painful more uncomfortable but very odd!
Taste an smell was dulled but didn't disappear. Week 3 now and still very tired and achy xx

noturkeythankyou · 28/12/2020 00:07

My Dh initially has aches and banging head thought it was flu tested positive added eye pain and major fatigue first week. 2nd week felt worse with added high temp over 39 loss of taste and appetite and cough. Ended up in hospital for 2 weeks - 3 weeks in very tired though cough subsiding with drugs. No initial standard symptoms. Good luck

Kitten11x · 28/12/2020 00:08

Firstly a tickly itchy cough for a day. Then achey , headachey and also a rash on the face .I was very tired .
Second week I still had those symptoms and I got two awful mouth ulcers and had very weepy itchy eyes . I finally lost some sense of smell/ taste.
Mostly recover now . Still feel tired though .

profilechange · 28/12/2020 00:13

Gosh, didn't realise it lasted so long 😬
I've had a headache this evening and my left eye is also aching, if that makes sense? My legs are aching too.
But I have no cough, can taste and smell everything, and I wouldn't say I have a high temp, although am shivering.
Really just feels like something I've had many times before. Hoping I'll just sleep it off!
Hope all of you that are still suffering feel better soon Smile

good question. I've not been feeling well today - sore throat, tickly cough, feeling wiped out... going to get tested tomorrow

ButiLoveHim32 · 28/12/2020 00:40

An awful headache that just would not shift from the Thursday, palpations from the Wednesday and feeling very weak and dizzy. Technically I didn't have any of the symptoms to get tested but was contacted by the ward regarding an outbreak so had to be tested got on the Saturday. I knew by the Friday I had it though. Slept straight through for about 4 days. Slight sore throat. Tested positive on 12th Dec and have been feeling OK apart from fatigue(it's a killer) randomly today though my cough has been bad and throat sore.

babyinthacorner · 28/12/2020 00:45

Started with a dry, nothingy cough. Then feeling generally unwell by the hour over an afternoon. By that evening it felt like a chest infection - tight chest, aching body & Head.
From then on I had foggy head, aching all over, fatigue, loss of appetite & general low mood/depression every day.
Occasionally diarrhoea, heart racing/palpitations, laboured breathing, stabbing pains in my head.
The cough has come and gone. Today (day 9) I feel better for the first time - I don’t feel so exhausted and am generally brighter, but still coughing.

Hm2020 · 28/12/2020 00:45

I’ve just done a test was with a Covid positive person a week ago and yesterday started with slight temp and really sore throat feels like tonsillitis but the weird one which my two Covid positive friends had aswell is lots of mouth ulcers and that’s what they was complaining of before they got there positive result and I’ve just read it here again from a pp hopefully I’ll get my results soon but been contacted by track and trace so got to isolate anyway!

babyinthacorner · 28/12/2020 00:47

I should add lots of my colleagues also tested positive and we’ve all had very different symptoms! Lots of them had back pain. Some had general cold/flu symptoms. A couple just had the headache.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/12/2020 00:53

I started with a general feeling of shit, as you might feel when getting the flu. My daughter was the same and tested positive. That's when I got tested and it was positive. It progressed to having a horrific headache, body aches that felt like my bones were breaking, and awful exhaustion. Several days later anything I are or drank tasted terrible, and that lasted for over a week. My daughter lost all sense of smell or taste for 6 weeks but that didn't happen for me.

MyNameForToday1980 · 28/12/2020 00:57

I felt a bit under the weather. Headache (noticeable, but not awful), swollen glands, very tired (but I was also home schooling + working full time so often worked until 1-2am so took being exhausted for granted).

But then a week later the most awful chilblains you've ever seen. Both feet, all toes were swollen, red turning to purple and almost black. So so painful.

I had a GP appointment (remotely, with photos) and she suggested my feet were due to COVID Toes.

This was in the middle of April - early May so no testing outside of a hospital setting.

So I had an antibody test which was positive so I can only presume that the under-the-weather feeling was the start of it.

ConfusedcomMum · 28/12/2020 01:02

An intense tension headache, painful to look up. Very cold, could not get warm. Some fatigue which increased as the days passed. Excrutiating lower back pain radiating down my legs. Tiny bit of blood in urine (sorry TMI). A few days later had nausea but it was like pregnancy nausea where you feel a bit queasy when you think about food but if you don't eat at all then the nausea feels so much worse IYKWIM so had to eat little but often. Very slight pinkish tinge on the whites of my eyes. Throat feeling parched, dry lips. Very fast heart rate.
Sense of smell and taste impaired on day 4. Felt back to normal on day 8 and post covid cough only started on day 10.

yuyubooboo · 28/12/2020 01:02

I have a cold. Literally that plus fatigue and no sense of taste or smell. Definitely covid positive but we were surprised with the cold symptoms

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 28/12/2020 01:07

Terrible headache was the first thing.
I did have a temp but only briefly
I then had aching muscles and joints all over for more than a week
Plus am still really fatigued 2 weeks on
Also had a few days of diarrhoea and stomach cramps in the middle somewhere

Never had a cough at all

Hellhath · 28/12/2020 02:08

I'm on day 9.
Day 1 I just felt lethargic with a slight sore throat, that night I felt worse by the hour - a splitting headache, achy body, shivering. I rang DH at 5.30 am (he was on a night shift) to say I feel really unwell, i think I've got covid, and i booked a test.
By the time he drove me for my test at 10am I could barely open my eyes, they ached. I had the worst headache I've ever had in my life. I went straight to bed after my test and spent 3 days in a haze of head pain, eye pain, alternate piling on blankets because I felt frozen, and waking up absolutely drenched in sweat. I had an awful taste in my mouth, nausea, no appetite, it's all just an awful blur.
Day 4 the cough started, chesty and coughing up yellow stuff. The headache and eye pain eased, I felt hungry but only for specific things. I was still shivery, then sweaty.
Throughout, my legs felt weak and I could only shuffle slowly to the bathroom. I slept endlessly.
The night of day 4 I felt quite short of breath and panicky on and off. I kept turning myself onto my front (prone)
From day 5 to now I've improved. My appetite is back, my sense of smell has completely gone, totally. I am coughing endlessly, I am walking round the house but easily exhausted. If I have a bath I have to lay down for an hour after.
People have asked what it's like. I say its different to anything I've ever felt. I have never felt head pain like it, or sweat so much. And it changes day to day.

anothernamechange224412 · 28/12/2020 02:31

Headache, fatigue, body aches, freezing cold and shivering then hot sweats, temp, slight cough, breathlessness but not too bad, and only happened a couple of times, brain fog, nosebleeds over about 5 days, completely lost taste and smell, towards around day 6/7 it just felt like a cold, sneezing and stuffy nose. Feeling extremely tired if I do too much but actually feeling ok now day 14. It is unlike anything I've ever experienced before.

lovelemoncurd · 28/12/2020 02:56

Itchy eyes, cough, fatigue, aches, breathlessness, fires going off in lungs, palpitations, chest pains, long Covid- didn't recover from fatigue until 5 months later!

twittwootwittwoo · 28/12/2020 03:24

My long list of symptoms

Intense headache
Face ache/ear ache
Sore throat
Upper chest pain
Nausea
Loose bowels
Joint pain
Fatigue/aching limbs
Kidney pain
Sweat smelling sweet like a diabetic (not diabetic)
Fever
Chills
Cough
Painful all over
Burning skin sensation

YukoandHiro · 28/12/2020 03:32

I would get a test if I were you. You might have it but with mild symptoms, and you don't want to just spread it around everywhere assuming it was a cold

Pinkyxx · 28/12/2020 11:03

DD (age 11) has Covid. Started feeling a bit ''sniffly'' within a day progressed to cough / sore throat / headache & tiredness. Cough got terrible, literally non-stop dry hacking. A few days of chest pain when coughing at the peak. She's on day 21 and symptoms only just starting to reduce. Never had a fever.

I would get a test if I were you, for peace of mind if nothing else.

Musicalmistress · 28/12/2020 11:10

None of the 3 classic symptoms, at all. Started mid October with an upset stomach then flu like symptoms a day later - sore head, achy all over, feeling cold & exhausted. Developed breathlessness at the end of week 1 so GP sent me for a test. Off work for 6 weeks with continued aching, breathlessness & exhaustion, very low oxygen levels. Back at work part time/phased return for 3 weeks before Christmas but I was completely shattered and really struggled to keep going.

DrCindyPops · 28/12/2020 11:12

I had a headache and a heavy cold for about 5 days, then lost my sense of smell on the 6th day and tested positive then.

HairyFloppins · 28/12/2020 11:16

Tickly cough day 1 ish. Temp days 2,3,4. Then blocked nose cold symptoms. Severe tummy upset lasted a week. Joint and back pain. Loss of smell about day 4.

Breathlessness about day 7. Felt better by day 8. Still have joint pain and cough three weeks on.

Lostinacloud · 28/12/2020 11:46

Started with a dry cough that wasn’t as ‘continuous’ as I was expecting but was a bit like an annoying tickly throat cough. Felt ok the first day of that.
Next day felt a bit under the weather and had a headache in the top of my head (which is not normally where I suffer headaches). Headache was dulled by paracetamol. Definitely felt under the weather and like I wanted to watch tv on the sofa all day for 3 days but didn’t feel excessive tiredness and still managed all the kids meals etc.
Sore eyes like they were tired after a long day on a screen.
A strange feeling of wheezing in my throat for about a week but no troubles breathing.
Lost my smell and taste after about 4 days. They came back 3-4 weeks later.
Felt better in myself after 3 days and pretty much back to normal after a week. Maybe I was lucky but if I’d never heard of covid I would have felt like I’d had a mild flu and not thought much of it after that.
