NHS App Alert - self isolate?

ResponsibleAdult12 · 26/12/2020 07:40

Can anyone help?

Yesterday afternoon got a notification from the nhs app that I'd been in close contact with someone with covid.

Then I had a text to ask me to fill in my details online which I didn't do. Then another one this morning saying someone will call me soon if I don't fill in my details.

The thing is I've not seen anyone apart from been in the supermarkets. I'm so confused. There's no way I've been within 2m of the same shopper for more than 15 minutes while doing my shopping so how have they worked this out?

Have you 'checked in' anywhere using the app?

Northernsoullover · 26/12/2020 13:08

@DownToTheSeaAgain

Isn't this why we are going to be stuck in lockdown forever.... surely if test and trace contact you it is because someone who tested positive has the virus and you should isolate, however minimal you believe the exposure to be. The app is a red herring.
I've worked as a contact tracer as a clinical case worker. I know what is deemed a close contact. In any scenario I had to consider who had to isolate and who didn't. I was absolutely no ones close contact on that day or the previous day or the day after. I am quite privileged in the respect that isolating will cause me no financial or emotional hardship and I will do it but I can tell you without doubt I will be removing this app. When people say 'I am careful' I absolutely mean it 100% that I am careful. I do not visit family. I do not meet up with friends. I go to work alone, drive alone. I wear medical grade PPE on the rare occasion I go to the shop. None of my interactions would ever be deemed risky. I have been a huge advocate of the app and I have completely lost faith in it. Its going

You must have been given as a contact or checked in somewhere for T&T to have your details

The app doesn't have those details

Lazypuppy · 26/12/2020 13:10

The app and T&T are completely seperate.

The app isn't legallly binding, so you can ignore if you are confident you weren't a close contact of anyone on the day they say. When someone enters a positive CIVID result, it uses the data to flag to anyone who was a close contact to now isolate.

T&T is legally enforceable i believe, that means someone who has tested positive has been contacted and given your name and number

Northernsoullover · 26/12/2020 13:11

@ResponsibleAdult12 the text message definitely looks like its come from the TTP service. I think your details have been passed as a contact.

ResponsibleAdult12 · 26/12/2020 13:14

Last checked in somewhere with the app on 12th. Even if it was from that the 10 days isolating would be up by now. But even if you just check in with the app that can't mean they have your personal details if you haven't input them on the app.
My only conclusion is someone has lied because I've only been around general public whilst shopping and no one would know my name or number.
@DownToTheSeaAgain so if I've seen no one apart from shops, how have they got my name and telephone number?
Someone must have given it to them. - someone who is presumably positive for Covid 19.

I believe track and trace is legally enforceable whereas the app is not so it is a moot point really. You have to isolate.

ResponsibleAdult12 · 26/12/2020 13:19

It's not a problem anyway as I'm in a bubble with my parent and I can stay away from everywhere and anyone else until 1st.
Don't get why someone would lie and give my details though.

I thought you were meant to stay away from your bubble as well if you've got to isolate? That's what I'm now doing.

I thought the bubble was classed as one household?

But you are not being told to isolate as a household but as an individual - not easy granted. My friend had to deliver her sons Xmas dinner to his bedroom as he is isolating from the rest of the family.
ResponsibleAdult12 · 26/12/2020 17:18

It's okay. Test and trace called me and confirmed how it all works. Cannot isolate from my 3yo obviously. Have reiterated to them I haven't been around anyone as they are saying now I have to isolate until 2nd Jan.

Northernsoullover · 26/12/2020 23:13

Did they say if someone had identified you as a contact? I know they can't tell you who.

ResponsibleAdult12 · 27/12/2020 07:50

Yes they did say that and I made it clear I've not seen anyone. Still have to isolate though 😫

How well do you get on with the father of your 3yr old? Could it be him or one of his friends being malicious?

Sunflowergirl1 · 27/12/2020 08:20

They were looking at making it an offence to falsely identify someone....but as with all this other Covid rules shite...how e hell do you enforce it?

As the persons being contacted hasn't a clue who identified them, it is a real problem, particularly with people being spiteful and identifying ex partners as contacts when they haven't been near and neither have their kids. I do know people who have been identified several times now (no evidence of it being a revenge thing) but when you are in your third isolation and haven't a clue who identified you it wears thin.

If I tested positive I would have the decency to tell my contact myself so at least they know it is genuine

PrivateIndoorXmas · 27/12/2020 08:31

Are you absolutely sure you didn't stop to talk to anyone you know when out? And are you definitely counting far enough back? There is clearly something in this when you got separate notifications from both the app and t&t.

ResponsibleAdult12 · 27/12/2020 10:19

Yes I'm 💯 sure I didn't stop and talk to anyone. The app said I'd been in contact with them on 21st which is not possible as I didn't even leave the house that day and my isolation was due to be up after 31st, but when track and trace called me they said I'm to isolate up to and include the 2nd so it was put at a later date than the 21st. I last went shopping 22nd. I've only seen my bubble since then and it's not them.
Anyway I've managed to get a click and collect order sorted which my sister will pick up for me and drop off so it's not a major issue but just annoying stuck in with 3yo.
I don't know anyone who would spitefully do this so it's very bizarre. I am happy to comply as I'm too worried about not but as i said just bloody annoying.
