So upset

Merry Christmas guys, my husband tested positive this morning, and I have also started showing signs so went to get tested. We have a 23 month old who is showing no signs at the moment but I'm so upset that she may/will get it from us.

Has anyone else had a toddler get it and how did you/they cope?

I have such an awful headache I can't get rid of, a sore throat, I ache from top to toe and a heavy chest. None of the symptoms noted by the government, my husband had the same symptoms too.

I'm just feeling sad

I tested positive last week. First symptoms were feeling ill, runny nose, headache, sneezing. Then a cough and lost smell and taste about day 4. It's now 9 days since symptoms started and I'm feeling almost normal if a bit tired.

My kids are 5 and 3 and are both fine. They have both coughed maybe once and sneezed a few times, so I'm not sure if they have it but are basically asymptomatic. It's worrying but kids generally are so mild if they do get it.

I did order a pulse oximeter same day argos delivery because I read about silent hypoxia - oxygen levels can become very low for some covid patients without the normal symptoms. Was reassuring to check this.

Crazycatlady123 · 25/12/2020 17:30

My 3y/o brought it home from childminders and tested positive on 16th, DH positive on 18th (mine negative, presumably false). 3 y/o had nothing but a bit of a runny nose for a few days, DH and I had congestion, all recovered but DHs cough is lingering. Try and keep calm you'll get through it. Rest when you can.

twittwootwittwoo · 25/12/2020 18:04

@ConfusedcomMum

I just wanted to add my senses of smell and taste only started to get affected on day 4 and my cough only started post covid so had I relied on those symptoms to self isolate then I would have been out and about amongst the public with covid for 4 days at least (luckily I didn't!).
Wow this is exactly my husband, he couldn't taste his dinner tonight

Disorganisedfish · 25/12/2020 22:29

Just be careful on the eye front - I ended up with eye ulcers and needed to goto casualty about week 3 into Covid symptoms. I needed hourly antibiotics for 10 days and it was incredibly painful (and scary!)

DH got a positive result this morning, he has had a fuzzy head and just felt off since Monday. I've also had a weird headache and sensitive eyes since Monday and today feel hot and just off colour. No cough, no tight chest. So many people around are saying the same thing that they got a headache first and then got a positive result.

I've got a test booked for the morning (am actually confused as to whether I am allowed out to get tested?) but thankfully the DC seem fine.

user1488819536 · 26/12/2020 00:09

I had it and so did my three year old. I had a sore throat and a bit of a headache. Lost taste and smell 3 days in.
Toddler had no symptoms at all. We both tested positive

TeenageMutantNinjaCovid · 26/12/2020 00:32

I contracted mine on Friday
1st symptoms headache and sore throat on Tuesday
Lost smell on Friday
Didn't get a cough until the following Wednesday (had a very odd random single cough before that)
Coughed all day the following Sunday (so day 13 after 1st symptoms)
Never had a temperature

Yes you can go and get tested even if you're positive in symptoms

Wow this is awful, toddler woke at 12:45 and has gone back to sleep but my head feels like it's going to explode, my face is aching like I've gone ten rounds with Tyson Fury, my kidneys feel like they're going to drop out my backside and my whole body aches. My chest is also getting tight and heavy at the top and now I'm feeling incredibly sick.

Still no "classic" symptoms

Thanks for clarifying for me OP, I did my test this morning. I hope you start to feel better really soon. Flowers

Jenibluebell · 26/12/2020 15:34

Still waiting on my test result, was 10am Christmas eve I had it, we are in west Yorkshire xx

twittwootwittwoo · 26/12/2020 15:36

My husbands came back within 36 hours, I had mine yesterday lunch time

MadeForThis · 26/12/2020 15:48

Dd age 2 and I tested positive this weekend. Dd coughing a lot and running nose.
My symptoms started with a really sore head. Throat felt raw. Eyes hurt when I looked up or left. Lost smell on day 4. Taste is patchy. Tired but not exhausted. Few coughs each day.

Don't know if this is the new strain. Maybe it presents differently?

caringcarer · 26/12/2020 17:01

I think your symptoms are those of the mutant strain of Covid. Hope you feel better soon.

caringcarer · 26/12/2020 17:06

I have an awful headache started yesterday and dote throat today. Feel a bit tired, but been nowhere to get infected. I am sleeping in spare room for a few days just in case.

twittwootwittwoo · 27/12/2020 04:39

Seriously what fresh hell is this?

I feel so lonely right now and so ill

I still haven't received my results yet but things are getting worse

Currently I still have

An intense headache running down my neck and into my shoulders

Face ache

Itchy achy eyes

Sore throat

Upper chest is painful to breath in

Aching body and painful joints

Kidney pain/lower back pain

And I've started to smell sweet like a diabetic (never been diabetic, pre diabetic etc)

Also as well as having a fever a few times a day I go incredibly cold. A couple of hours ago I was shaking so much even though I had jammies, dressing gown, duvet, thin blanket my husband threw his dressing gown over me and held me until I stopped

All sounds very dramatic I know but apart from a temperature I haven't heard any of these other symptoms (if I am positive that is)

Is there anywhere were the public can put these symptoms into a nhs database or something?

Sorry for the long post

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 27/12/2020 04:50

@twittwootwittwoo yes they are common symptoms just not the main 3.

The zoe covid app lists them all and is really useful (it's them that got lack of taste/smell added).

Keep up with the paracetamol and keep an eye on it any difficulties breathing and call the NHS.

Children either get no symptoms or different symptoms some it just passes by. Again just watch out especially temperature wise in LO.

Hope you start to feel better soon.
