I love mission impossible films and it’s to his credit that he’s trying to keep people in work. Who cares that he’s swearing.

OP posts:
Frazzled2207 · 16/12/2020 15:52

i think he has a very valid point but tbh probably didn't go about expressing his concerns in the best way.

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/12/2020 15:55

We definitely do not need anymore Tom Cruises!!!

MassiveSalad · 16/12/2020 15:56

Um, no, one Tom Cruise is more than enough. What a hysterical little fool he showed himself to be.

EnPoinsettia · 16/12/2020 15:57

Well, he hasn’t seen his kid for nearly ten years, so I think we’ve already got enough absent fathers in this world thanks very much.

Not to mention cult nutters.

Othering · 16/12/2020 15:58

The way he spoke to the crew members is appalling. Who the fuck does he think he is, the jumped up little squirt. There are other ways to make your point other than yelling and swearing at people.

Butterymuffin · 16/12/2020 15:58

Agreed. I read that he paid personally for the crew to be able to isolate before shooting. He wants production to go ahead and for people to be professional. Yes he's ranting but his points about protecting people's livelihoods are valid.

Littlemissnutcracker · 16/12/2020 15:59

I totally agree with him but I don't think he needed to air his very bad temper in the process of making his point.

RedToothBrush · 16/12/2020 16:01

No we do not need more Tom Cruises. The man has a reputation for not treating people of 'lower status' to him well.

Whilst on this occasion he might be enforcing rules he has form for being an arse and threatening people.

DappledOliveGroves · 16/12/2020 16:02

No. Give me Laurence Fox any day.

HighHeelBoots · 16/12/2020 16:03

He's a cult member who enjoys being worshipped and presented with ridiculously large medals whilst ignoring how badly treated the lower orders of the cult are

MynephewR · 16/12/2020 16:04

Jesus christ Shock That's awful! Who the hell does he think he is? I get where he's coming from but there is absolutely no need to shout at crew members like that.

TheOtherMaryBerry · 16/12/2020 16:11

I get where he's coming from but there is absolutely no need to shout at crew members like that.

Totally agree. It's disgraceful behaviour and incredibly unprofessional.

Smallsteps88 · 16/12/2020 16:15

More Tom Cruises?

EnPoinsettia · 16/12/2020 16:17

I also think he’s the sort to dress up his concern for himself as concern for others.

So the concern for people in the industry that led to him paying for people to isolate, is just cos he doesn’t want to get it himself.

Which is fair enough, but don’t rant at people like that and pretend it’s out of concern for others not self-interest.

megletthesecond · 16/12/2020 16:18

I don't blame him tbh. Not his finest moment but I can see where he's coming from.

BenidormLife · 16/12/2020 16:19

Definitely not..who the hell does he think he is.

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/12/2020 16:20

I also think he’s the sort to dress up his concern for himself as concern for others.

Exactly. He knows he’s been a knob so he’s trying a bit of virtue signalling at the end and saying all he thinks about is ‘others’ Who might lose their jobs/houses. I think we all know his primary concern is himself, his money, his professional reputation.

hamstersarse · 16/12/2020 16:21

I actually like Lawrence Fox and Tom Cruise simultaneously. Fancy that!

I can understand where Tom Cruise is coming from - he doesn't want to jeopardize the filming

I can understand where Lawrence Fox comes from when we are being told by a government that we can't have our basic freedoms and human rights

IntermittentParps · 16/12/2020 16:26

Being charitable to Cruise, he probably feels under intense pressure and a lot of responsibility and he snapped. I'm not saying it's an excuse though; I'd hope he would know how to speak to people civilly even under pressure.

This. More than enough Tom Cruises, thanks. Him ranting away in a staged autowitter is not my clip of choice. I’ve more interesting things to do, the plug hole needs a good scrub.

Are you joking with your question @IntermittentParps

It's hard to tell these days

IntermittentParps · 16/12/2020 16:36

hamstersarse, no, I'm not joking.

manicinsomniac · 16/12/2020 16:38

Shouting at people is probably more of a Covid risk than standing too close to someone.

I get his frustration and need not to have the filming compromised. The Arts industry has been so badly hit this year. But it's not a good way to make your point.

tinselfest · 16/12/2020 16:41

Where are they filming MI 7 at the moment - anybody know?

Blue565 · 16/12/2020 16:41

He's an absolute nutter

On this particular topic, he's bang on (but went about it the wrong way)

But we need less Tom Cruise's overall, not more
