I love mission impossible films and it’s to his credit that he’s trying to keep people in work. Who cares that he’s swearing.

He knew it was being recorded! No one should speak to their colleagues like that.

@IntermittentParps

hamstersarse, no, I'm not joking.
Oh.

Well, with the Coronavirus act there were additional powers to control the movement of people. Public Health officials have been given extensive powers to control the movement of any one found to be infectious and to call on the police to enforce their directions. The Secretary of State now has extensive powers to forbid 'events' or 'gatherings' and to close premises for the purpose of controlling the transmission of Covid-19.

However, the important point to note is that apart from the power to prevent events or gatherings, the Coronavirus Act conferred no power to control the lives of healthy people.

Yet, here we are with lots of healthy people who have lost their rights to movement and to gather.

We need people like Lawrence Fox to be questioning these powers.

We all surely know what could happen if we just let a government strip away these rights without challenge?

Yes we undoubtedly need more entitled multi-millionaire entitled celebs (and Cruise as a rep for being an asshole to work with) screaming at underlings. If he had concerns he could've raised them in a constructive way, and been listened to because....he's Tom Cruise blah blah.

Any 'healthy person' could easily be carrying the virus and not know it and could unwittingly pass it on, maybe to someone not so healthy who would get it very badly.

We all surely know what could happen if we just let a government strip away these rights without challenge? That's a bit dramatic. These measures are for a very specific set of circumstances. I doubt that Stasi-style surveillance is on the horizon for the UK in 'normal' times.

TomatoesAreFruit · 16/12/2020 17:38

Tom Cruise's behaviour is not admirable it is inexcusable and out of control In any normal workplace setting, he would be be facing disciplinary action.

Op - don't you see the dangers of celebrities who think that the normal rules of behaviour don't apply to them.

unchienandalusia · 17/12/2020 20:01

the point he makes is valid, the way he did it is most definitely not!

lunar1 · 17/12/2020 20:06

My friend has worked for him a couple of times, apparently he is really nice to work for and goes above and beyond as a boss and provides much better working conditions that most in the industry.

I've got a fair amount of sympathy for him, to be honest.
