I can’t quite get my head around this being almost over by spring !!

MarcelineMissouri · 02/12/2020 18:17

Me too. I keep randomly bursting into tears!!

And yes I know it’s not going to be over for months, it’s not a silver bullet blah blah blah but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter by the day!

whataballbag · 02/12/2020 18:18

We're in a hell of a lot better situation than we were a few months ago. It doesn't all feel so fucking hopeless anymore

Bluewavescrashing · 02/12/2020 18:20

It's great news but I'm at the back of the queue and in close contact with 27 children every day. I really think teachers and other school staff should have a better position in the queue.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2020 18:26

Me too :)

I just can’t get over the divergence in the future

Without it - too bad to consider

With it - back to normal

So bloody happy and relieved. I do think it’s momentous.

I disagree with this.

Teachers with specific need to be vaccinated early will be covered by the current categories. There is a limited supply of vaccine and the priority surely has to be protecting those most at risk of severe illness or death.

I am a TA in a class of 30 and do not feel that my need to get the vaccine is greater than someone with much more risk of dying, which is mostly age based.

Dottydoodoo · 02/12/2020 18:34

Me too! Today is a good day 🥳🥳 I actually can’t believe this day is here!

MarshaBradyo · 02/12/2020 18:35

Under a year!

Bloody hell even in the movies it’s not that fast

I cried a bit

Hi @MarshaBradyo
I’m almost tearful I feel such relief.

Some of these threads - well they’re just a reminder of how awful the internet can be.

Today is a great day - proud of researchers/scientists/ medical team.
I’m nhs - we’re starting to give in my trust week of 14th.
UCH are starting next week - joyous for them !

musicalfrog · 02/12/2020 19:07

I'm volunteering for the NHS and i think I'll be offered it before many of the people i know. I just can't wait to get this ball rolling!

Earlgrey666 · 02/12/2020 19:15

It's wonderful news, I can't believe it, I'm nhs staff and hoping I will be offered it soon!
I just want life back to normal and even if it takes months I have hope which is something I didn't have throughout most of this.

LeaveMyDamnJam · 02/12/2020 19:17

Having worked in the pharmaceutical industry and with a DH who still does (doing remarkable work) I’m so proud of all those globally who have worked so hard to keep us safe. Thank you all. We are remarkable primates.

Pomegranatespompom · 02/12/2020 19:17

That’s exactly it @Earlgrey666 we needed hope, now we have it.

Pom yay! And totally

I cannot get my head around posters who can’t see that the alternative is extremely dire. Economic demise etc

So, so good. What a breakthrough.

CeeJay81 · 02/12/2020 19:23

Me too. My mum is in a care home, so hopefully will be one of the first to get it. She's 150 miles away from us and I've not seen her for a year. All they allow at the home is half an hour visits in their conservatory, so it's never been worth visiting. Now I know it won't be long before we can have a proper visit and even take her out for lunch, how exciting!

frozendaisy · 02/12/2020 19:24

Same here!
Don't mind being towards the end of a really long queue at least it's a queue now!

Whoop!
Grin

Pomegranatespompom · 02/12/2020 19:25

I’ve now had a cry - due to my work WhatsApp group 😳

We’re all so bonded, it’s been difficult.

frozendaisy · 02/12/2020 19:27

If we ever bump into a vaccine researcher in a pub the G&Ts are on us! Gin

“It's great news but I'm at the back of the queue and in close contact with 27 children every day. I really think teachers and other school staff should have a better position in the queue.“

It’s been recommended that after everyone high risk has been offered it, the healthy under 50s be prioritised by keyworker status/occupation. Teachers (by which I hope they meant all school staff) were mentioned. I think that’s fair. Who exactly would you like to push ahead of in the queue?

GoldenOmber · 02/12/2020 19:27

It is such fantastic news.

To think, all these months we’ve spent seeing graphs of cases, graphs of deaths, graphs of tests, graphs of hospitalisations - soon there’ll be a ‘number of people vaccinated’ graph to watch as the line goes up and up and up.
