Do covid test results take longer to receive over the weekend?

Hi am awaiting a test result for my child who was tested at 6pm last night, Does anyone know if they are perhaps a little slower processing results over the weekend? I haven't had a text yet I know my friend had her child's back the next day but it was during the week she was tested...

We did one at about 7pm on a Saturday and we didn’t get the results til the Tuesday morning.

Oh wow really, I wasn't expecting to wait that long.
Was this fairly recently?

My DH was tested on a Friday mid-morning and got his result late on the Saturday. I was tested on the Saturday afternoon and got my result early Monday morning.

Twinkie01 · 28/11/2020 20:43

DS had one 10am Saturday got his results 6pm Sunday.

4pm fri and then results 4pm sat. Others in same area have been more like 2-3 days so I guess it depends on many factors. They told us 72 hours.

I did my test saturday 1.30pm and got it back 11pm Wednesday!!

Flowerpot345 · 28/11/2020 20:53

Thanks everyone, I was hoping that it would be back fairly soon, they told me if not back within 48hours to ring a number on a piece of card they gave me.
It wasn't busy at the testing station when I went literally only me and then one other arrived afterwards.
Although I obviously won't know how busy it was during the day.
Hopefully I will get a text soon.🤞

oh really Motherofmonsters that seems a long time.
Would just be nice to know if we can all go back to work/school on Monday .
I guess I will have to try and be more patient.

Really borageforager, It seems so long to wait. Hopefully they can start turning it around quicker.

Sorry, was off doing the dishes. It was three weekends ago.

@Flowerpot345 I had a test 2 weeks ago today (Saturday) and received the results the next day, around 29/30 hours after the test. My results were positive, but not sure if positive results are quicker or not.

borageforager · 28/11/2020 22:37

Daft thing is DH is a doctor so it was supposed to be quick so he could get back to work!

BlackeyedSusan · 29/11/2020 01:05

51 hours. Tested Wednesday lunchtime result just after close of play Friday. Three fucking days of school missed.

NorthernChinchilla · 29/11/2020 04:49

Posted box Friday morning, results Saturday lunchtime. Was actually quite impressed!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 29/11/2020 05:21

Tested Friday morning, result Saturday afternoon (NHS GGC, Scotland v recently)

Bromeliad · 29/11/2020 06:07

The mean processing time is currently around 2.7 days.

peanutbutterandfluff · 29/11/2020 06:32

DC has had 3 tests so far since July, all on Saturdays. Results in 12hr, 33hr, and 33hr (most recent was 3w ago). Have followed similar threads at the time of each test and there didn’t seem to be much difference in people’s result times for weekend vs weekday (obviously that is very unscientific, just my observations)!

YukoandHiro · 29/11/2020 06:40

In my experience yes (we've had to get three already since September)

KitchenFishCurry · 29/11/2020 06:43

i did my test at 10am yesterday and got my email at 2.30am this morning

Idontbelieveit12 · 29/11/2020 07:14

I did one a few weeks ago on Sunday at lunchtime, got results 9am Monday morning

Coffeeandcrumpet · 29/11/2020 07:18

My dd was tested first thing yesterday, got the results the same evening, less than 12 hrs.

Flamingolingo · 29/11/2020 07:19

I think it probably depends on where you are and what the situation is like. It’s clearly very variable. We did a test at 0800 Friday and got the results at about 7am yesterday so just within the 24h; a friend used the same test centre a few weeks back and it took 5days! So not consistent. Current waiting times at our test centre 24-48h apparently

frizzyandfrazzled · 29/11/2020 08:16

Tested yesterday at half 8, still waiting and cannot rest. I'm not particularly ill but have a dry cough and a change in taste. Hurry up results, they really do need to be quicker!

Flowerpot345 · 29/11/2020 08:45

Thanks everyone, got an email this morning.
It said they couldn't read the sample, dreading having to test my child againSad
