Do covid test results take longer to receive over the weekend?

Hi am awaiting a test result for my child who was tested at 6pm last night, Does anyone know if they are perhaps a little slower processing results over the weekend? I haven't had a text yet I know my friend had her child's back the next day but it was during the week she was tested...

Oh no! How old? I've heard it's best just to do nasal swap for young children. Obviously check with the staff at the centre though ☹️

TheDaydreamBelievers · 29/11/2020 10:07

Oh no! It was a horrible test - can totally understand why little kids hate it so much!

Nomnomarrgh · 29/11/2020 10:09

I’ve done two weekend home tests for me and dd. Both times got results emailed the following night at 11:30.

Nomnomarrgh · 29/11/2020 10:11

My dd hated the nasal swab and preferred the tonsil swab. We had a giggle about the Egyptians and pulling brains out through your nostrils

We did one yesterday at 1pm and got results this morning, partner now positive

Lifeispassingby · 29/11/2020 11:06

We tested yesterday at 11am and have literally just had the text as I was reading this thread!

GreyishDays · 29/11/2020 11:08

How old is the child? Do you need any tips? I’ve done a few on children.

frizzyandfrazzled · 29/11/2020 11:18

Come on result.....

middleager · 29/11/2020 11:25

That sucks OP, sorry.

Flowerpot345 · 29/11/2020 11:43

He's 6 frizzyandfrazzled his Dad's taken him now instead to give it a go, I didnt want to do it on him again as his nose and throat is just so sore I don't like seeing him upset like that.
They told me to do both his throat and nose think it's under 5s that only have the nose?

Hopefully his Dad gets somewhere with it.
Would hate to get the same result again.

Thats kind of you GreyishDays they have left, his Dad watched some videos before he went so hopefully he will do a better job than me.

Thanks middleager it is frustrating. Sad

Mine is back. So that's 8.30am Saturday for next day, Sunday at 2pm result. Luckily negative. Good luck OP. Fingers crossed he gets a result and that result is negative.

GreyishDays · 29/11/2020 14:26

We got our eight year old to do his own nose, very slowly. I’m not sure if that’s feasible on a six year old. Good luck.

Flowerpot345 · 29/11/2020 22:14

Got the result back they said to only swab his nostrils, negative result 😃 Back to work and school tomorrow.
Glad you got yours back frizzyandfrazzled.

Postal test posted yesterday, collected 3pm results today at 11,11pm and 11. 17 pm. Not bad for postal tests.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/11/2020 00:44

Negative but still isolating until weds. ( Part of targeted council testing)

frozendaisy · 01/12/2020 12:53

Our turn tested eldest sent home from school this morning for coughing, slight blocked nose, have subsequently been informed a child in class has tested positive, last in last Thursday but on the other side of the class, we shall see, tested this morning 11.15am not allowed back in until negative test or isolation period
