January Lockdown

Do you think this will all end in another lockdown in January, or just a continuation of the tier system?

God knows. They seem to make it up as they go along. No real plan or consideration for the working people.

As part of the 3million who are excluded from any kind of help I swing from thinking that people will do as they please anyway and then to anger that this will be dragged out and we will have additional months with a reduced income.

We can cope. Many can't. I am heartbroken for those who are relying on food banks, losing their homes and committing suicide. So many have been let down badly.

Titsywoo · 26/11/2020 22:12

I would think Liverpools success is more due to the mass testing than the lockdown

SheepandCow · 26/11/2020 22:18

Both were needed. Testing alone doesn't stop the spread. And, only 50% of the population had a test in Liverpool.

I suspect it was in part due to better compliance with restrictions. Perhaps the high hospitalisation and death rate brought it home to people. That, and the sad death of the mayor's brother. Perhaps also good morals and a concern and respect for the vulnerable, and NHS workers.

Exactly how I feel . Tier 3 is lockdown but I can go to the hairdressers. I feel it's damed if I do damed if I don't . I've hardly seen anyone , my poor mum misses us but i was worried about the risks now I'm thinking life is too short for this shit . They do make it up as they go along . The run up to Christmas is usually fun with Christmas party's get togethers etc so I'm sorry if you think this isn't lockdown . January I'll happily stay in for the whole month but this month no we need this after this year .

Oh yes, people in Liverpool were definitely born with better morals than people in Leicester.

WeCanFlyHigher · 26/11/2020 22:22

I should have added a Hmm face to my post above.

Definitely more morals than the owners of the illegal factories in Leicester that refused to close - where exploited vulnerable workers have been forced to work in unsafe conditions for below the minimum wage. What a gift for a virus that wants an easy spread.

Also better morals than the government that turns a blind eye and allows this to continue. Pandemic or not, there should be no tolerance of that type of exploitation.

ImPrincessAurora · 26/11/2020 22:37

Seriously what difference will it make it they do
This is how I feel.
Haven’t seen my friends since March. Haven’t hugged my parents. Haven’t celebrated birthdays or been on holiday.
Can’t do any of those things now or in Jan regardless.
Agree with the people saying we are in lockdown just under a different name.

kittensarecute · 26/11/2020 22:44

I won't mentally cope with another lockdown, I just know I won't. I'm at breaking point with all this.

gurglebelly · 26/11/2020 23:01

I'm hoping not, as we are due to get married on 30th January and am not sure I can deal with moving it again 😫

SomewhereEast · 27/11/2020 11:33

I don't think the Gov will get another lockdown past their own MPs, especially given this one has ended with most of the UK actually going up a tier.

We’ve gone up 2 tiers, despite cases having halved since going into lockdown. Sadly our MP’s nose is attached to Boris’ anus.
ifonly4 · 27/11/2020 11:49

I'm sure the easing of restrictions over Xmas wil,l at least, move of us up a tier into 3/3+ as numbers are sure to go up and more end up in hospital.

If our cases are lower than Liverpool’s does that mean we have even higher morals?? Hasn’t helped us out of tier 3 though...

Same here... cases far lower per 100,000 than Liverpool, but still in tier 3. Not sure our morals are to blame.
Plus if we’re blaming lack of morals for the spread of the virus, why did Liverpool have to be put in tier 3 in the first place? Did they all of a sudden discover their morals sometime in October?

GrizzlebumsMum · 27/11/2020 12:12

No, another one. Boris’ anus must be getting pretty overcrowded Grin

GrizzlebumsMum · 27/11/2020 12:16

@WeCanFlyHigher He has a fairly sizeable arse to accommodate them all!

MarshmallowManiac · 27/11/2020 13:09

Totally agree starrynight19, we went up two tiers during our supposed lockdown.

Yes I agree too sandragreen

No plan at all SonjaMorgan, but as I've said before, when you have clowns there's going to be a circus! Sad

kittensarecute sorry to hear you are not coping, just wanted to say definitely speak to your family and friends or doctor or local foodbank and they are always really helpful. Sending hugs. Flowers

Looks like America is suffering because of thanksgiving

nolovelost · 27/11/2020 13:58

I think we'll have another lockdown after Christmas even if people stick to the rules over the festive period.

Titsywoo · 27/11/2020 13:59

Seems unlikely if Thanksgiving was yesterday!
Cornettoninja · 27/11/2020 14:14

America have been in a dire state for ages - constantly breaking daily case number records. Texas alone have had over a million cases despite having a population of approximately 29 million. Compare that to our 1.5 million cases in a population of 68 million.

What’s happening there is nothing short of criminal and I’m not sure how you’d start to unpick cases caused by thanksgiving. Not that they’d be showing up yet.

SheepandCow · 27/11/2020 23:39

The UK has a higher death rate than America.

MercyBooth · 28/11/2020 00:52

America is 264k deaths.
