I’m getting very confused about when all this is actually over watching Boris and his statement in the commons Blush and a quick google makes it no clearer!

On which day will I be able to walk out of my front door and no longer be under lockdown? Wednesday 2nd or Thursday 3rd?

Boris just seemed to imply Wednesday, and my daughters gymnastics have said the same. But I assumed it would be the Thursday because then it’s 4 whole weeks.

Confused!!! Halloween Confused

Has anyone worked out yet whether things can open on Wednesday or Thursday next week? I am seeing businesses post a mixture of the two, so there is clearly wide confusion!

girasol helpfully refers to the English regs - www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/1200/pdfs/uksi_20201200_en.pdf
It is 28 days from 5 November 2020.
Northern Ireland officially announced a few weeks ago the WRONG date for a lockdown to end so there is no doubt people find this all hard.
I think the regulations would be more helpful if they referred to the exact time and date ( eg they could add i.e. XYZ time on ABC day). I make the 28s being to the start of Thursday 3rd but I know people disagree on these things. It would be rather nice if the state cocked it up so we had ONE DAY of complete freedom when the regs end and before the tiers come in. (I am against all mandatory CV19 legislation but follow it)

Thanks Xenia, I have now found here it says the new rules are from the start of the 2nd, but like you I would have said the 28 days were up at the start of the 3rd! Very confusing www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know

I'm mostly hoping we can go back to household mixing (in groups of 6 of course!) in tier 1. We've moved DDs birthday sleepover by a week to Sat 5th and she'll be devastated if we need to cancel

I haven't seen any suggestion that restrictions on overnight stays are changing, so sleepovers are presumably still out.

It was originally the thursday I think but my hairdressers have just put a note up on facebook confirming they are allowed to open on wednesday which is one day earlier than they thought.

Overnight stays are allowed in tier 1
