Is lockdown over?

Thought I must have missed an announcement. House down the road had 8 visitors yesterday, another has got 3 today and they're only the ones I've seen.

OP posts:
lurker101 · 12/11/2020 13:39

It’s not over, but it’s the start of a massive festival for a lot of people, which given some of the responses on mumsnet to how few people will comply with restrictions if they’re in place over Christmas, might influence things

RegularHumanBartender · 12/11/2020 13:41

Folk shouldn’t have lots of visitors and it is everyone’s business if they do because infections are easily spread in the home environment

You stay in then. Let the rest of us make our own judgement calls, like we have our whole lives, with every other illness and virus and risk.

HumanFemale1 · 12/11/2020 13:41

Get a life

Justmuddlingalong · 12/11/2020 13:42

We all know people who are following the rules, those who bend them and those who ignore them. Getting your knickers in a fankle by what others do is pointless. Counting them is on another level of pointlessness.

Now now, don't start making sense, people might accidentally start thinking for themselves instead of blindly following the rules govt makes but doesn't follow themselves...
IcedPurple · 12/11/2020 13:44

OP is right. Folk shouldn’t have lots of visitors and it is everyone’s business if they do because infections are easily spread in the home environment.

How is standing by your net curtains while making outraged posts on MN going to influence other people's behaviour?

NerrSnerr · 12/11/2020 13:50

I'd love to, but unfortunately I'm a nurse so can't and have to deal with the increase in Covid cases. I'm in the SW and cases are lower than other areas of the UK and we still have over 100 Covid patients in our DGH, one community hospital closed due to Covid abs notifications that residents in care homes are testing positive daily.

The rest of you making these judgement calls will lead to the NHS getting overwhelmed and then everyone will be once again complaining they can't access treatment for other illnesses.

RegularHumanBartender · 12/11/2020 14:00

It is strange how everybody who supports lockdown and the policing of other people's behaviour is always a nurse, or a "key worker", or "front line".

QueenPaws · 12/11/2020 14:01

Doesn't mean the OP is curtain twitching! I sit facing a window for 8hrs a day, I can see everything that's going on Grin

borntohula · 12/11/2020 14:03

'OP, report them.'

😂😂

Shitfuckoh · 12/11/2020 14:05

Actually, I'm not a key worker. I have and will continue to follow lockdown rules but I'm just sick of people asking silly questions.
No it is not over. As you very well know. Some people aren't following the rules, as you've seen. Lots more people are following the rules.

We don't need 100% of people following the rules, we never did. Obviously the more people that follow them the better but I'm not going to stress about Doris having Hilda round for a cup of tea.

This

I don’t disagree at all that people shouldn’t have lots of visitors etc

BigBadVoodooHat · 12/11/2020 14:08

OP is right. Folk shouldn’t have lots of visitors and it is everyone’s business if they do because infections are easily spread in the home environment.

And posting a pass-agg thread about it on MN will have precisely what effect on the OP's rule-breaking neighbours?

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 12/11/2020 14:10

And i agree with shitfuck

Its like when posters say ‘am i the only one obeying the rules’

Of course you’re not 😒

Reedwarbler · 12/11/2020 14:10

@NerrSnerr it seems that a great many cases are being caught in hospitals and care homes, in fact in the SW that appears to account for the greatest percentage. Perhaps the government should be looking at why that is, (and doing something about it) rather than keeping families apart.

starrynight19 · 12/11/2020 14:10

Sadly op this thread shows that most people are ‘over it’.
You can only control what your doing but agree it’s frustrating when you see so many with complete disregard. Even more so if your working in the nhs / emergency services or schools right now who can see first hand the effects of community transmission.

IcedPurple · 12/11/2020 14:13

It's like all those 'Is it just me or has everyone forgotten the roolz? In my town today nobody was wearing masks, the shops were full, gangs of teens were loitering and drinking cider etc"

Thing is, unless they too were out and contributing to those rool breaking crowds, how would they know all this?

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 12/11/2020 14:14

Exactly iced

Mother40 · 12/11/2020 14:30

I can't believe.how many stupid responses there are on here. I would be annoyed as well Op. We are meant to be following the rules. Having 8 visitors right now is ridiculous. Do most people think it's fine not to follow the rules? I would be able to see if some of my neighbours are having visitors without.curtain twitching - doesn't mean you.have to go out your way to catch people breaking rules.

BeaMends · 12/11/2020 14:35

I despair of what this country has become.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/11/2020 14:40

These threads are so boring.

I want people to follow the rules too but what is the point in posting the same threads on Mumsnet every day? What will it achieve?

LindaEllen · 12/11/2020 14:41

It's not over, but I think people are fed up and don't think it's working so they're just ignoring the rules now.

It's a shame because I think it'll just make it drag on longer for those who do follow them.

Fuss · 12/11/2020 14:42

@DanaScully53

Yes, clearly it's over. It's a UK wide conspiracy to keep you in the house until Christmas. Everyone knows about it, even Mulder......
Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/11/2020 14:42

If you're that bothered report them, stop making passive aggressive threads about it that will achieve nothing.

Saladfingersscaresme · 12/11/2020 14:42

You are right op, ignore the arseholes, they frequent most threads these days.
