Is lockdown over?

Thought I must have missed an announcement. House down the road had 8 visitors yesterday, another has got 3 today and they're only the ones I've seen.

You know what...I was in my city centre earlier today and you would have never thought it was lockdown! It was busy AF considering it was midday on a Thursday with the majority of the shops closed. Looked no different from 2 weeks ago. But then again, there are colleges/universities open nearby.

I realise that I am part of the problem as I was there too! (I was just walking from train station A to B to get to work so literally there for a couple of minutes.)

There were a lot more beggars than usual too. On a short, brisk walk I was stopped ~7 times.

Wow, some of stupidity in the responses has a nice side of snobbery with it....net curtains, really?

I am afraid many of the attitudes amongst those who are happy to disregard attempts at limiting spread leave me less relaxed than ever about the idea of everyone making their own 'judgment call'.

Who knows what is going on with your neighbours though, it may be an emergency or exception, most likely just people being stupid and selfish, we don't know.

Lockdown certainly not over here, haven't seen any signs of it being taken lightly. That said, I saw recently that mobile phone data showed the area around me had been more compliant over the last few months than many others, less going out or gathering even before lockdown, which is thought to be why we haven't had the same kind of second wave (yet) and haven't had to go into tier 3 or anything.

There are advantages to people being more relaxed about going out...much easier to get delivery slots than it was.

I don’t think it’s because people don’t care anymore I think it because we now know the reality. In March we didn’t know anything - what the risks were etc. I remember going out and buying medicine just in case and it was all so sudden. But the fact is is that many people have just not been affected medically and if they have they have recovered. People have been affected financially so people will Now be reluctant not to go to work.

It’s not a full lockdown anyway - schools are open, select shops are open- garden centres for example there’s nothing essential
About a garden centre. We haven’t been told to only go out once a day.

This lockdown is purely so the government can say they have done something to get infection rates down after they hashed up track and trace. Covering their backs at the cost of people’s livelihoods.

That is true. I'm completely over all these stupid rules and regulations. I just roll my eyes when I hear anything about socially distanced this or socially distanced that.
