In a tier 2 area. Should add I'm also an NHS worker.

Friend 1- NHS worker working with immunocompromised children. Went with 4 friends (none of whom live together) to a spa for the day last weekend in another town. This weekend is going over to another friends house.

Friend 2- teacher. Went with a group of friends on a trip to the country (They don't live together) last week. Went on a date with someone she's been seeing for a month last night.

Friend 3- teacher. Asked if she could come over to mine. I said no, we're in tier 2. She then started asking for recommendations for UK trips as she wants to go away this half term!

I really despair

Think hibernation as much as possible is my plan:I'll see you in the spring,by when hopefully Oxford will have proved how clever they are 😉

Winter hibernation is a great plan. Human interaction is vastly overrated.

Why are you tarring all NHS workers and teachers with the same brush? You've literally identified 3 people out of a population of millions

They're human too you know.
I assume you're happy for the people you're calling on MN to carry on working whilst you "hibernate" though

People in all sorts of jobs ignore the rules.

We're Tier 3. DP is a doctor and has said that some of her colleagues are ignoring the rules or not making any effort to distance at work (in roles where distancing is possible). But the vast majority of her colleagues are taking it seriously, so why single out the NHS and teachers?

I’m also an NHS worker & also know NHS workers who are bending the tier 2 laws to the max.

I know far more who aren’t though. Far far more.

@CoffeeRunner yeah I do know most aren't. It's just the 3 I've spoken to today are ALL breaking the law!

Our doctors are the worst but now we’re getting cases suddenly they’re scared. They’ve been having bloody pizza nights in the junior doctors’ mess. They even had a warning that we would prevent access to the mess room due to their lack of observance of the rules. Some were saying they’re in bubbles - nope, you work together in full ppe so that doesn’t mean you can socialise without ppe!

That said, most of us are really trying to stick to the rules. I went to a spa day with a friend - but we’re tier 1.

@m0therofdragons same in our hospital. We had all of our consultants off isolating - 3 infected, rest self isolating for 14 days. And yes, some people also don't seem to realise that working together all day in PPE doesn't mean they can all go out for lunch together without PPE and social distancing!

Plenty of people can't or don't want to follow the rules. There are many reasons why, the main one being because they're human and no human is perfect (even you OP ). Being a teacher or nurse doesn't make them any different

@KitKatastrophe fully aware I'm not perfect but will do everything I can to protect colleagues and very vulerable patients

What do their jobs have to do with it? These posts annoy me so much. Do you want a pat on the back for following the rules and being snarky about your friends?

I'm a nhs worker and I've broken the rules a bit. Life is impossible otherwise. I'm kind of too busy working to judge others mostly. Rather surprised the op isn't likewise.....

Perhaps you need to think about why you feel the need to comment negatively on two professions who are dealing with this shitshow. The NHS and teacher bashing on here is so tedious.

So what? People are assessing their own risk and getting in with things. What's it got to do with you? How are their actions impacting on you? Unless you're jealous of spa days?

Yup, one of the parents at our school took 3 kids on holiday, they all got covid, resulted in 15 + kids having to self isolate ( they all came back to school before developing covid) . Parent is a GP....
But most of the people I know in healthcare are being totally responsible, and are struggling to deal with the " covid isn't real" people

The title of your post is a bit OTT. You have come across a couple of NHS workers and teachers breaking the rules - that's hardly all of them as your title implies.
