As in what symptoms did you have? And we’re they the main listed ones?
And what was the result?

Curious as I’ve had a slightly not so much sore but very dry feeling throat for 2 days now and just had an episode of diarrhoea.
I know these aren’t the listed symptoms so not sure if I would need a test and put the children through home school isolation while waiting for results!

I had a test for what I was sure was a normal cold - day one sore throat , day two blocked nose and sneezing and day three onwards cough . My cough was quite bad and I read of people who had been tested positive with just cold symptoms . Result negative

Mumtumwobble · 19/10/2020 18:16

Dh had a terrible headache and backache/sore joints. He had a slight cough, but nothing much much and certainly not continuous. He tested positive and only went to get tested because a friend said he only really had a headache/aching body and no noticeable main symptoms when he tested positive.

StrangeAddiction · 19/10/2020 18:28

Last month I had my first test as I had a cold and a bit of a cough so I tested for the cough.

This weekend I've had another cold and late last night I noticed reduced smell now I've completely lost my taste and smell when I woke up so I booked a test this morning for this morning. Now just isolating in my bedroom waiting for my results...

Zem74 · 19/10/2020 18:32

I’m so torn about whether to get a test or not, or whether my anxiety is just blowing how I’m feeling up!

Have you looked to see if there's much spare capacity in your area?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/10/2020 19:02

I tested for a cough. I was certain it was linked to allergies but tested to be sure.

janetmendoza · 19/10/2020 22:39

Huge fever and blinging headache - positive

notanoctopus · 19/10/2020 22:53

Son had a cold then school said was coughing on Friday. I also got a cough on Friday after a cold. Both normal for us. Got tested to make sure. Didn't test on Friday as would ha e been a 3 hour round trip. Got tests closer to us on Saturday morning. Son's will probably be inconclusive (he's 4 and it was tricky to get the swab done). Son hasn't coughed since. All of us feel well. All isolating inc DD who is missing school as no results through yet. I think next time I'll wait a couple of days before trying to get a test. Someone in DD class also isolating and missing school as parent been awaiting results.

Felt unwell on Friday and Saturday. Punched in my symptoms of mild fatigue and aches and pains on the COVID symptom study app.

Got invited for a test for me and family.

Booked me and DS for test - his symptoms - he had 2 lie ins in a row, got me suspicious - plus his bubble had closed.

I was negative, DS positive. Bonkers.

makingmiracles · 19/10/2020 23:22

You can only get a test with a cough, temperature or loss of taste and smell, so the gov uk website would say you didn’t need one without any of those three symptoms.

I know someone who tested positive, she’s nhs but not frontline and she was tired and had a sore throat, tested through work and got a positive so it does make you wonder how many people are being missed if they don’t have the key three symptoms!

MrsMoggy · 19/10/2020 23:32

Had what I thought was a cold coming back that I’d had two weeks prior. Nose wouldn’t stop running and skin was red raw from wiping it. Got to work and when it came to break realised I couldn’t taste a thing. Left for a test and got positive result two days later. Now on day 5 of having zero taste and smell and a runny and itchy nose. No cough or fever so far

Realitea · 20/10/2020 07:13

A very sore throat, feeling chills, pains in legs, cough, snotty, sore ear, sneezing, fatigue. It was really awful and I’m still getting over it two weeks later. The fatigue is horrible.
I tested negative. I really thought I had it.

Realitea · 20/10/2020 07:14

I also had loss of taste and smell!

dottycharlotti · 20/10/2020 07:26

Where I live, they advised a test for any cold/flu symptom. Given so few of these viruses are circulating at the moment, they advised you probably had COVID. Given I'm suffering at the moment, and it could easily be mistaken for a cold.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 20/10/2020 07:36

It's ridiculous Isn't it. Many countries have a much wider test radius and now we are made to feel guilty for testing because the gov can't bloody test us.

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 20/10/2020 08:54

Absolutely don't feel guilty. It isnt your issue that the government can't organise itself.

SedentaryCat · 20/10/2020 08:59

Continuous cough and couldn't properly catch my breath which is normal for me when I get a cold. As advised, got a test. Didn't have a temperature at all - which is odd as even with a cold I tend to spike a fever.

Test was negative.

Me and my oh had the same for two days. I started getting a slight cough on day 3. Got tested and we’re both positive. We’re on day 9 now and we’re both feeling horrendous now with the full range of symptoms
Cocothefirst · 20/10/2020 09:18

Cough and sore throat. Negative.

LittleRen · 20/10/2020 09:57

I'm unsure at the moment. I have horrendous fatigue.. can't keep my eyes open, and a dry throat.. plus aches.

MrsBennetsnerves · 20/10/2020 10:35

I had 2 of the main symptoms in March and most of the uncommon ones. No hospital hence no test. Then in May I had chills, sore throat and my fatigue came back. I wouldn't have normally tested just because of this but the Zoe app invited me to. That was positive.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/10/2020 11:10

Tested twice because the Zoe app told me to - both times it was hayfever, which I have prescription medications for, and get terribly every year.

Aragog · 20/10/2020 11:15

I was tested as it was routine for hospital admission.
I did not test before as I didn't have the big 3 symptoms which warrant testing and, at that point, we weren't worried that I had Covid.

At that point I had a tight chest and difficulty breathing when moving about. I had super high blood pressure and a faster than average heart rate. Looking back I'd also had dome leg pains.

I tested positive.

I developed a cough a few hours later.

MissisBee · 20/10/2020 11:16

Son - cough and high temperature, negative.
Me - cough, after having had a sore throat and runny nose for a couple of days, also a headache. Negative.
In both cases, our coughs met the criteria of "coughing a lot for more than an hour or 3 or more episodes in 24 hours."
