How long is it taking people to get test results now?

Managed to get 5yo DS a test this morning by some miracle (he has a temp and a cough). I got tested myself back in June and the results were back in less than 24 hours. Am guessing that at the moment it's going to take longer - anyone care to say how long they've waited in the last couple of weeks? I need him back in school!

I had one back within 24 hours a couple of weeks ago (just at the point where everything was going to shit with the testing so I was expecting to wait days!)

Whirlwind14 · 01/10/2020 09:47

Was just going to ask the same question- waiting on my mum’s result and going out of my mind as she’s diabetic. Although she’s feeling better today so I’m hopeful....

@PlonkItDownNOW she was able to book one yesterday straight away too. Hopefully things have improved so the labs will be on it too.

Good luck with your result! X

I was tested at 1.30 on Tuesday at 6.40 yesterday evening so just over 27 hours.

WhatHaveIFound · 01/10/2020 09:50

DD tested Sunday - 34hrs Positive
DS tested Tuesday - 37hrs Negative

greensnail · 01/10/2020 09:52

Took 27 hours for ours, last weekend.

PlonkItDownNOW · 01/10/2020 09:54

Hmm maybe not as bad as I was expecting then. Probably not in time for him to go in tomorrow though sadly!

Myself and my dd got tested on Monday lunchtime and my dd got her results back 8am Tuesday morning and mine were back 8am wed morning. I was very impressed as I was worried it would take longer at the moment.

Vebrithien · 01/10/2020 09:58

Postal test, collected 5:15 on Monday, result emailed back at 3:30 on Tuesday, so roughly 22 hours!

chunkyrun · 01/10/2020 10:04

Our second attempt took 4days

PlonkItDownNOW · 01/10/2020 10:07

That's if I even did it right - half expecting it to be inconclusive!

There’s a few other threads on this. Did mine in SW London on Monday at 12pm at a drive through in Twickenham... still waiting! So nearly 72 hrs.

Monkeytapper · 01/10/2020 10:56

Drive in test, Darlington- 20 hours

Whirlwind14 · 01/10/2020 11:19

I'm in London too so may well be similar for me.

Whirlwind14

that's great, what a relief for both of you.

Murinae · 01/10/2020 11:32

Mine was 21 hours this week

OhMsBeliever · 01/10/2020 11:36

Had my test around 10.20am yesterday, got the result (negative, thankfully) at 10.06 today.

GoNucksFiven · 01/10/2020 11:38

72+ now and still waiting. The telephone service say they're unable to chase results due to high call volume so if we don't receive them we just have to wait the full ten days.

Palmtree76 · 01/10/2020 12:06

@GoNucksFiven I know it’s maddening isn’t it. I wouldn’t mind if everyone was on same wait but there’s such a disparity across country. Even at same testing sites!

PlonkItDownNOW · 01/10/2020 12:18

GoNucksFiven - where are you?

OP posts:
GoNucksFiven · 01/10/2020 12:19

@Palmtree76 This is the second time in a month with two small children bringing alsorts home from their settings. So far we've lost 2 out of 4 weeks income. I'm not optimistic for our financial situation this winter. Beyond frustrating.

GoNucksFiven · 01/10/2020 12:20

PlonkItDownNOW South Wales.

Debradoyourecall · 01/10/2020 14:19

@GoNucksFiven us too, in similar situation with two small kids though taking holiday to cover childcare so at least not losing income. Feel for you.

anothermansmother · 01/10/2020 14:21

Test for my daughter at 3pm on Monday results back at 930am on Tuesday.

GoNucksFiven · 01/10/2020 14:32

@Debradoyourecall Unfortunately all annual leave was used already to cover lockdown as no furlough 🤦‍♀️

Still no results...
