How long is it taking people to get test results now?

Managed to get 5yo DS a test this morning by some miracle (he has a temp and a cough). I got tested myself back in June and the results were back in less than 24 hours. Am guessing that at the moment it's going to take longer - anyone care to say how long they've waited in the last couple of weeks? I need him back in school!

I tested at 1pm on Sunday at a mobile unit and my negative result came back at 10am on Monday so 21 hours.

On Tuesday dm and dsis tested and they both got the results last night. It took around 30hr in a London test center. They were both negative.

We are on 76 hours and still waiting....

29hours here. We are south east.

That's bound to be the case, how would you be able to guarantee the same timescales across the country? The testing system could improve but it would be totally unrealistic to expect that with a system that involves 100s of 1000s of manual procedures every day. With people having to do their own tests even samples from the same site might not be able to be processed in the same timeframe (I know nothing about how it actually works but I can imagine that it's not a mechanised process)

Postal test for DS. Requested 8 am Mon. Received and returned Tues 3:30pm. Still waiting for results. I hope they come back today so he can go to school Friday. Symptoms (which I strongly suspect aren't covid) have gone now.
Last time I took a postal test in the summer, I got the results back in 24 hours of posting.

Under 24 hours yesterday

About 17 hours in the south east. I was really impressed with the end to end service to be fair. I know this hasn't been the case for everyone but my personal experience was good. It will probably be shit if I have to have another one now I've said that!

Mine is a postal test, Which was posted yesterday morning. Royal Mail tracker says it arrived at Glasgow at 10am today. Not heard anything yet....

I'm in the North West test results back for DS in 40 ish hours. Was also convinced it would be inconclusive as i thought I hadn't done it properly but was thankfully negative.

Test results are finally back. From the point where we it was clear that DS had one of the 3 main symptoms - a new and very persistent cough - on Sunday afternoon, it took until 9pm Thursday evening to get a result - which was negative.

This included the time spent trying to book a test on the gov.uk website. We haven't got the car at the moment, so postal test was the only option, which will also have added to the time taken.

That's 4 days of school missed.

Not back here yet. Been about 27 hours.

Still waiting. 96 hours. I’ve been isolating since Saturday 😭
