Just wanted to say how lovely it smells 😊 Kept walking past people today who smelled really nice... I realised that it was the M&S gel after I went in and out of the shop! It's lovely!!! 😂

I hate it. It’s so strong it gives me a headache.

Primark's is revolting and even after I get home and wash my hands, it leaves a residue and horrid smell.

Agree the M&S one is lovely. I took my own out in primark today, it’s revolting.

Ugh the M&S sanitiser is by far my east favourite on the high street. Leaves hands totally sticky. Every time I have had to go in there I'm desperate to rush home and thoroughly wash my hands. Takes lots of soap and rinses to get rid of too

My "least" favourite, not me East favourite. Obvs

I think it’s horrible, it doesn’t smell like it has the right amount of alcohol and it lingers. I use my own.

Mumsnet is known for not liking strongly perfumed things. Don’t ever mention fabric conditioner 😂

Haha very true @Southernsoftie76 but on the flip side there seem to be hoards of MNers liberally splashing Zoflora around their homes. I have never, ever in RL heard of anyone putting Zoflora on their radiators to fragrance a room 😂

I love the smell of M&S one.
What about the John Lewis one? I think that one is disgusting.

I put a few drops of tea tree oil into the ordinary gel. Lovely.

I'm going to show this thread to dd, we both think it smells like old ladies perfume We thought it might be deliberate!

Ooh I love it too! Worst I’ve had is one in Costa. Gloopy, sticky and smells strongly of tequila.

@WildCherryBlossom I am partial to a capful of Lenor in the wash but zoflora is migraine inducing even diluted!

Occitane has various scents. The lavender one is lovely

Funny, I hated the M and S one! The smell/taste ruined my snack that I bought to eat in the car. I couldn't wait to get home to wash it off.

I really hated the M&S one the first time I used it. It was incredibly strong. I came home and washed my hands twice and could still smell it. It made me feel really nauseous. I vowed never to put it on again, but I forgot and went back last week and it seemed different, fresher and altogether more pleasant that time, so maybe there are variations

Unless they've changed it again, but when the introduced the fixed metal dispensers, its like bubblegum, old lady perfume and energy drinks mixed together.

Use my own when I go there, took till next day to get rid of smell despite washing hands several times.

Promptly forgot and went through it all again a few days later 🤢

I love it. I hate the ones that make me smell like a hospital.

I think it smells like febreze. I make a point of using my own as I walk in as the time I tried it I couldn't get the smell out of my hand for several hours and ended up with a stinking headache.

I think it's horrible! I genuinely wondered if they had had to water down normal hand gel with some kind of floor cleaner product if they were running short, to make it go further. Got a great squirt of it, very liquidy and some on my cuffs, they still really smell. Ugh.

The Prep school I work in has a lovely hand sanitiser. It’s got a lovely peach fragrance. People comment on it. Not like that horrible shit that smells of chemicals.

@Tangfastica I want to apologise! When you first posted this I had only visited a large M&S megastore. The hand sanitiser was thick and extremely sticky and didn't have a great fragrance at all.

Anyway.... all these weeks later I just popped in to a small food branch for a top up shop and couldn't think what the lovely clovey, wintery scent was. Then I realised it was the sanitiser and though of this thread where I had been quite dismissive.
