If you are WFH, when are you returning?

We have been told we won't be fully returning basically until a vaccine has been developed for COVID. I have no idea how long this is going to be.

When are you all returning?

Not until the beginning of next year at the earliest but I'm expecting my employers to say that we'll be working from home on a permanent.

Runnerduck34 · 24/09/2020 18:40

Never! My employer has been planning on selling office site for a long time and relocating to smaller offices ,with covid they have scrapped the idea of replacing the office after selling and will hire hub type spaces for employees to book and use with line managers permission

Qasd · 24/09/2020 18:46

Official review is January now I cannot see them changing it by then unless the trajectory of the pandemic is very different to that which is being predicted!

WestTen · 24/09/2020 18:48

Honestly I'd be happy with WFH permanently. I know others absolutely hate it though

Unlikely to be for at least 6 months given what PM said the other day.

Maze76 · 24/09/2020 18:56

Not until next year, but that’s not set in stone. I was working from home 2 days a week prior to Covid anyway, but I do miss the office.

timeforawine · 24/09/2020 19:00

Returned already, they've made the office Covid guideline compliant so are allowing a small number back, you need to book a day and once they are gone they are gone as they are greatly reduced

redferrari · 24/09/2020 19:57

Office building's lease won't be renewed and we will have a small office with hot desks next summer but it will be outside city in a cheaper area. Our business can happen with everyone wfh and they are not planning to have a big office again. Most of us appreciating the time and cost being saved by not commuting (London based)

TheGriffle · 24/09/2020 20:03

We haven’t been told anything yet but even when Boris was saying “get back to the office” we were still being told to stay at home so I can’t see it being anytime within the next 6 months and we’ve been working from home now since March so at least a full year of it I’m guessing.

Scottishgirl85 · 24/09/2020 20:04

When normality resumes, probably late Spring/early Summer next year. Fwiw I work for a company developing one of the vaccines.

UntamedShrew · 24/09/2020 20:40

Post vaccine...

wendz86 · 24/09/2020 20:41

Our office is now open, they have said you can go in if you wish but no one is expected to until January although i have a feeling that may be extended.

Figgygal · 24/09/2020 20:43

Expect it’ll be another 6 months now
I don’t mind avoiding the winter tbh

Imicola · 24/09/2020 20:44

Not sure yet, I guess it depends how the vaccine trials go.

BunsyGirl · 24/09/2020 20:48

We’re back already. We WFH one day per week, that’s it.

Ugzbugz · 24/09/2020 20:50

New financial year.

What will those do if the vaccine isnt successful?

BakewellTarts · 24/09/2020 20:50

When are you all returning?

God knows...not until the govt advice changes at the least. Maybe Spring 2021?
Anniemabel · 24/09/2020 20:52

I was expecting to return in January but realistically it’s going to be 6 months at least.

Confuzzlediddled · 24/09/2020 20:54

April at the moment, only people in an office if they need to be as can't wfh or if they're safer there.

Tappering · 24/09/2020 20:55

C-suite directors are saying January at the earliest but dependent on infection rate.

ComicePear · 24/09/2020 20:55

DH and I have both been wfh since March. I'm back at work one day a week from this week, DH has been told Jan at the earliest.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 24/09/2020 20:58

We'd started going back to the office 1-2 days per week due to capacity but now that the guidance has changed back to wfh if you can who knows - 6 months??
I'm quite hapoy at home but I do think there are benefits to working in the office as well.
Seems crazy though almost everyone drives, company have gone over & above on covid measures and case numbers in the area are extremely low.

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 24/09/2020 20:58

I’m back in the office, no real Covid measures in place, signs up but nobody takes any real notice. Other staff come into the office I work in snd customer step over the taped area we marked out! I was shielding too!

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 24/09/2020 21:00

I work for a bank, we’ve been told all plans to go back to the office have been shelved for 6 months. Not even allowed back in for chairs or supplies now.

Keratinsmooth · 24/09/2020 21:01

I’m not planning on going in again this year, considering March 2021 but friends on how Easter falls tbh
