School - how worried are you 1-10?

I'm finding it impossible to settle on how worried I am about school, about whether my children will pick up covid there and how worried I am if that happens.

If you were to put your worry on a scale 1-10, with 1 being 'no more worried than a normal year' and 10 being 'terrified', where are you?

I think I'm going for an average of 6 right now.

I’m not worried if they get it. They’ll likely be fine.
I likely wouldn’t be.
What’s worrying you OP?

Probably about 3. More worried about disrupted education than Covid. They’ll probably be fine if they get it, if they bring it home I might not be as I’m vulnerable (not shielding) but the world has to go on.

camelfinger · 10/09/2020 21:59

2 for Covid
8 for general concern about the disruption and negative impact in education.

Wankerchief · 10/09/2020 22:00

Solid 7

yellowmoampinball · 10/09/2020 22:00

Yeah probably a 1 for me. I'm more worried about possible closures due to other kids testing positive/disruptions to their schooling to be honest.

ChanceChanceChance · 10/09/2020 22:00

I think I just feel all over the place. I had a tour suggested by the school, it made it worse as the lack of SD looked stark Sad

2-3 for Covid. Both my dcs schools have been fantastic about everything.

10 for schools closing again and the distribution to the dc.

1 for them getting sick

10 for the massive headache constant sickness isolating etc will cause. We've been back 4 days in primary in. Single form entry. 2 classes already sent home.

But are you worried for your kids specifically?
Is it generalised health anxiety?
TBH I was in the shielding group and would happily lock us all away until Covid buggers off. Blush
But it isn’t going to.
My kids need an education.
They need to see their friends.
I need to build my confidence and face the world.

Qasd · 10/09/2020 22:04

I am not worried about them getting it because I think they will be fine if they do given age, health etc so zero on the getting it front. I am more worried repeated need to isolate due to bubbles busting, that seems a greater risk and am about 5/6 on that.

Todaythiscouldbe · 10/09/2020 22:05

1 for Covid
9 for fear of more disruption to education

Pinkmakeupbag · 10/09/2020 22:05

I should say my 2-3 I'm a bit of a germphobe anyway even before Covid. So the thoughts of getting sick was always a worry to me. Covid has just made it that bit worse.

The impact of weeks and months off school terrifies me.

Kaktus · 10/09/2020 22:05

A 1-2 in terms of their safety. A solid 7-8 in terms of how disruptive the year will be.

1, not worried about actual COVID at all. And mine are currently off awaiting COVID results!

Way more worried about the risk to their education at all the time off

ChanceChanceChance · 10/09/2020 22:06

@Wolfiefan

When I think logically about it, I know it's a statistically low risk.

But I still feel like a car crash is coming!
