Does this sound like I have it?

I have got a really really heavy cold, which definitely feels like just a bad cold. I feel like my whole head is made of snot.

However, I also have a really high temperature. About 39 when the paracetamol run out. I've never had a fever with a cold before.

No sore throat but I have a cracking headache. My asthma has flared up a little bit I'm not coughing much.

I didn't think you got a cold with covid-19? But the fever is making me wonder.

Just wondering if anyone else had a heavy cold and tested positive?

Just book a test. We can't tell you.

Isitisntit · 28/08/2020 21:39

I know you can't tell me, but I am wondering if anyone had a heavy cold with it.

I don't want to get tested tbh. I am isolating due to the temperature, so no point.

Scottish clinical director said a cold is not Covid.

However, as you have a temperature, you should test.

DamitJanet · 28/08/2020 21:41

Why don’t you want to get tested? Ok you can isolate for 24 days if you prefer, but if you’ve had contact with others in recent days then getting tested would let you give the right information to them. It probably isn’t Covid, but with a temperature I would test.

DamitJanet · 28/08/2020 21:41

14 days even

pinkbalconyrailing · 28/08/2020 21:42

you have a fever and are breathless.
get a test.

Isitisntit · 28/08/2020 21:44

Mainly cos I feel too rough to go out anywhere and can't face driving to a test centre. I will definitely isolate for 14 days though, that is for sure.

My daughter has tonsillitis at the moment too....!

Get a postal test.

MadameBlobby · 28/08/2020 21:46

Is it not 10 days for the person with symptoms (assuming they feel better after) and 14 days for the household? Can you get a postal test? I’d be pissed off at having to stay at home with you for 14 days cos you wouldn’t get tested

Bmidreams · 28/08/2020 21:46

Just order a home test in the morning. I'm guessing they've ran out today, but you could check.

Isitisntit · 28/08/2020 21:50

Oh I'll try again in the morning and see if they have more to post. It's purely as I don't feel well enough to drive anywhere right now.

OP posts:
TokyoSushi · 28/08/2020 21:52

You really should get a test. Hope you feel better soon. Flowers

Isitisntit · 28/08/2020 21:54

Thank you @TokyoSushi
During my fever all night yesterday, I kept dreaming of covid-19 🙄 I hope I've just picked up the virus that has caused my daughter's tonsillitis. We went swimming last weekend so probably (hopefully) something from the pool

lydia7986 · 28/08/2020 21:55

Yes, I know several people who have had it (confirmed either by test at the time or by subsequent antibody test) whose only symptoms were a very heavy cold.

So it’s definitely possible.

Isitisntit · 28/08/2020 21:58

@lydia7986
Oh bloody hell, I really had better get tested. I don't think I've had a fever since I was about 5 years old!! Thanks for letting me know x

I have asthma and allergies and a change in the weather always triggers a wheezy chest and sometimes a head cold in me. Is what your experiencing now usual for how you normally feel with your asthma?

Holshicup · 28/08/2020 22:04

Could possibly be a sinus infection, I seem to get a high temperature with this, usually need antibiotics to shift it

Isitisntit · 28/08/2020 22:09

@Uhoh2020
Yes this is how my asthma always goes when I have a cold. I feel very tight, rather than coughing. The only difference is the fever.

@Holshicup
That's acrually possible as I have a killer headache all at the front.

keziahthecat · 28/08/2020 22:12

Probably not but get a test to put your mind at rest. My children both had very bad colds with high temperatures last week and I also felt ill but we all tested negative.

Neptunesgiraffe · 28/08/2020 22:17

I tested positive with a heavy cold.

Isitisntit · 28/08/2020 22:20

I've drugged myself on Night nurse so probably won't wake up very easily lol but my husband is under strict instructions to try and get me a test.

OP posts:
Uhoh2020 · 28/08/2020 22:28

I've felt exactly the same past couple of days but without a fever. Its probably be better to be tested to be on the safe side due to the fever alone

yarncakes · 28/08/2020 22:48

I just gotten over a cold. Headache, bunged up, constant sneezing, the lot. Also have a lingering cough which I always get after a cold. I tested negative. We're entering into cold and flu season so this is going to be going around a LOT more now.

yarncakes · 28/08/2020 22:49

I just read you have a fever so you need to get tested because you don't get a fever that high with a common cold. I never had a fever.
