Sick of conspiracy theories

And I've just been called a Karen and a snowflake on Facebook - and then deleted - because I disagreed with what they were saying, which was that we are all about to be microchipped as part of this "plandemic" and that the masks are not only the government's way of controlling us but also for sinister purposes. These people (the man and his friends) are absolutely obsessed to the point of severe paranoia, and I'm getting sick of it so he did me a favour really 😂 But it did irritate me being called a Karen and a snowflake. I can't stand the whole Karen thing.

How the hell could a mask be used in a sinister way if we are all buying them from different places. Surely the government would have issued specific ones if that were the case? Anyway ... honestly I’d rather be a Karen than a Donald

Toothsil · 22/07/2020 00:00

@LouiseTrees that was exactly my point!

OP posts:
AudacityOfHope · 22/07/2020 00:01

You can't argue with twats like that, just leave them to their weird little lives.

Derbygerbil · 22/07/2020 00:04

I agree... it drives me nuts.

the masks are not only the government's way of controlling us

And as for masks being about Government control, it’s beyond absurd.... throughout history, people have sought to evade the Government’s authority by wearing masks! If the Government’s aim was to control us more, the worst thing they could do was require us to wear masks so we can’t be identified on CCTV etc. Pre-Covid I seem to remember the Chinese banning face masks in Hong Kong to prevent protesters acting with impunity!

Claiming face masks are about Government control makes as much sense as complaining that someone’s given you a meal in order that you’ll be hungry!

Itsjustabitofbanter · 22/07/2020 00:04

Op these people exist. And they’re too unintelligent to have their minds changed. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying don’t argue with stupid, they’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. As soon as you realise what you’re reading, scroll on

BigChocFrenzy · 22/07/2020 00:33

Bill Gates is often part of these conspiracies

and if they're the really unpleasant kind of conspiracy nuts, they'll bring in the "Jewish elite" as well

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/07/2020 06:30

@Toothsil
I am bloody sick of them too. Though I saw this on Facebook yesterday and now just keep plopping it in the comments of the conspiracy theorist posts (a LOT of them seem to centre around it being a man made virus, or something the worlds govt's have been hiding for years).

Sick of conspiracy theories
Finfintytint · 22/07/2020 06:38

I left a village group recently because the admin kept posting shite like this. Stick to parking and dog poo please!

labyrinthloafer · 22/07/2020 06:38

I don't understand if there are more conspiracies theorists, or if we just hear more from them nowadays.

I also don't understand why people get so aerated about major conspiracy theories but don't ever get riled by the more mainstream things that are actually affecting/harming their lives.

I basically don't understand. If be worried if I worked with someone who said this stuff.

Babyshambler · 22/07/2020 06:50

Totally agree OP...I have a good friend who is a conspiracy theorist and it is draining the life out of me. She posts multiple updates a day often reposts from questionable sources and is very aggressive when challenged.

So far, we have had:

There is no such thing as Covid, it's all a ploy to control us

But if there is such a thing as Covid it's something to do with 5G

Social distancing will be here forever as a means of control and not letting us get close to others

Schools are shut to "dumb down" the kids

Hospitals and families of Covid patients were paid to say patients had it

We have to wear masks as a way of control, but to also poison us with carbon dioxide

Bill Gates planning to vaccinate everyone with a microchip to control minds

Everything that has happened this year ; Covid, Pedophilia, BLM riots are all interlinked and part of the Plan

She repeatedly used to post a link to the "Plandemic" film, and when it was taken down it was always because "THEY don't want you to see this".

Having lost a relative to Covid, I challenged her about the payment thing to be told "THEY were hiding things from me and I don't actually know for sure".

She also feels like she has been enlightened, and everyone else is wrong. Writes goading and gloating posts "I always knew this would happen...so glad I'm not one of the Sheeple" etc.

There's absolutely no reasoning with her and it has seriously affected our relationship as she feels I have been brainwashed for years and won't accept any other facts or opinions.

KatherineParr4 · 22/07/2020 06:58

Just as worrying though are people who don’t question what we are being told. Many conspiracy theorists are obsessive and deluded. Others are on to something I suspect. Keep an open mind and don’t judge too readily.

gettingreadytogo · 22/07/2020 07:25

I wonder if fear or the lack of control we now have over our lives has tipped more people into conspiracy theory mental states ?

Is it mentally easier to cope with being just another ordinary human being with no meaning or control of life by instead being part of the super intelligent elite who actually understand what is happening and are fighting the underdog position? A boosting of ones self esteem when you have realised how little you really matter in the world especially to virus's

labyrinthloafer · 22/07/2020 07:29

It is a long time since lives were this disrupted. It has been a full system shock, so maybe it will bring more theories out of the woodwork.

CrunchyCarrot · 22/07/2020 08:11

It annoys and sickens me too, OP. I am heartily fed up with it.

Bill Gates planning to vaccinate everyone with a microchip to control minds

I have looked into this whole 'mind control' and microchipping thing since this conspiracy bull showed up on a forum I am on. I have come to the conclusion that it's pure science fiction. Yes, we can microchip our pets but no, this isn't the same as having a chip that can 'mind control' you or gain information from a 5G mast. People like Elon Musk are looking into mind control, but it's our minds controlling machines, not the reverse! Severely disabled people could benefit immensely by having chips implanted that could help them with daily activities. This is still a long way off, though, and a completely different thing! And certainly not achieved by injecting a microchip.

If people want to believe these things, they need to do proper research and find out exactly how it would work and how it would be done. I challenged someone posting about mind control and he said he didn't know how it was done. He was happy to believe in something he didn't understand and had no idea how it would be achieved.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 22/07/2020 08:15

It's the term "sheeple" that gets to me.
I've done some defriending/blocking on social media but the steeple stuff comes up in totally random posts/comments

slipperywhensparticus · 22/07/2020 08:16

I usually get banned when I point out you can't get a microchip into a vaccine needle

I'm not telling them about nanotechnology

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 22/07/2020 08:18

I also think persisting with all the out there conspiracy theories detracts from critically finding that the government hasnt been as transparent as they should have been

Greenteandchives · 22/07/2020 08:25

I agree with KatherineParr4 that it is just as worrying not to question everything we are being asked to do.

babba2014 · 22/07/2020 08:28

If you check out Robert JFKennedy Jr and also Children's Health Defence (website) you will find that Microsoft has parents for microchips via injections or something.
These things aren't lies and from someone like Kennedy Jr, he can't lie about things like this or how many people got hurt or killed by Bill Gates' dodgy campaigns abroad.
Yes some things are very far fetched and not true but others, the facts are out there. We shouldn't just call people idiots or conspiracy theories just because they're putting the truth out there and people don't want to listen.
So, to avoid fake news and to see real news and see the proof with it, I'd search for the terms on children's health defence.
The mainstream media has lied so much over the years it's a suprise to me that people take every single thing they say as as gospel or something. It really doesn't hurt to check facts and then see the overhyped stuff from the truth.

labyrinthloafer · 22/07/2020 08:33

I think there is having a questioning mind in general which is good but we don't have to question everything we are asked to do. Most stuff can be put into the mundane category.

I'm a fairly opinionated person, as in I don't go along with everything that e.g. school or work suggests - but loads of stuff I don't even give a second thought to.

The thing with conspiracy theories is there is no sense to it. Why does gates want to put a microchip in, even if it were possible?

cherryblossomgin · 22/07/2020 08:47

The Bill Gates conspiracy was supposedly started by anti environmental groups who don't believe in climate change. They also don't need to chip us to track us. Smartphones already do that.

labyrinthloafer · 22/07/2020 08:58

But what is the chip for, just to track us? What is gates tracking us for? Is he having to do this because no one uses Microsoft anymore so he can't track us that way?

I'm going to find out more.

Llamazoom · 22/07/2020 10:38

My cousin believes all this rubbish, she’s constantly sending me shit she finds on Facebook and videos from YouTube made by paranoid stoners.
What with her Covid beliefs and the Wayfair kidnappings/Epstein killed and ate children theories I am concerned for her mental health.

Toothsil · 22/07/2020 11:57

I do agree it's good to have a questioning mind, but some of the things this person was coming out with are so far fetched it's ridiculous and he's becoming more and more paranoid about everything. Someone actually told him he's going to make himself I'll if he doesn't chill out a bit and he said he can't while this evil government is out to control us and he's been watching this whole thing play out for the last 15 years, covid-19 doesn't even exist and it's all a scam. He reckons we will all be living in the woods for safety before long. 5g features heavily in his posts as well, he said the police are kidnapping people (arresting) and we will all be forced to have the vaccine.

OP posts:
beatrixpotterspencil · 23/07/2020 18:27

a few things that puzzle me, if anyone can educate me on a few points that's be fab.

Ok, ive recently heard of the Q-anon stuff.
They apparently think Trump is great.
It would seem many people also think that Trump is in league with Boris, so does this mean these people think Boris is also a saviour of humankind?

Also, if these people don't trust mainstream media and government, why do they support Trump and Boris?

Is it only current opposition parties who abuse children and lie to us?

so many questions! Grin
