Sore throat, aches and fatigue

Would you order a test? No fever or cough. Just not feeling well. I'm shielded but due to events on Sunday and Monday I was exposed to people far closer than I would have chosen.

I would.

Jrobhatch29 · 17/07/2020 13:17

Yes, there are more symptoms than the ones on their official list. Will give you peace of mind

SouthernskinNorthernsoul · 17/07/2020 13:22

I would. The drive in test centres are so easy to do. We have just done one this morning as my little girl and I have come out in a rash and she has a temperature. I'm a key worker. It felt very safe too- no contact with other people, you do it in your car.

MrsSpenserGregson · 17/07/2020 13:26

Yes. I did it on Monday, with the same symptoms as you. My test was negative (yay) - it took a few minutes and we got the results back within 24 hours.

You can go to the drive-through test centres even if you're not a key worker, you just need to book online here www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-an-antigen-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/

SistemaAddict · 17/07/2020 13:41

I've ordered a test to be delivered as I don't drive. I swear we all had it back in March and that started with bad headaches, sore throat and my asthma got bad. My asthma still isn't as well controlled as I'd like.

OP posts:
MrsSpenserGregson · 17/07/2020 13:44

Fingers crossed that it's negative

Sunnydayshereatlast · 17/07/2020 13:47

Have you been doing any cleaning recently op? Cleaner here and I feel rubbish today due to using anti bav quite excessively at work yesterday! Happens regularly in my job!! Once had bleach poisoning and thought I was at death's door. Few years ago so def not covid related..

SistemaAddict · 17/07/2020 13:52

My mum had a test last week which was negative. She the only person I've had any prolonged contact with and that has only been chatting on the drive at a 2m distance. Unfortunately teachers approached me and the children last week at an outdoor "socially distanced" event where everyone was supposed to be 2m apart. Then I had 4 police officers in my house for reasons I won't go into and they needed to be closer than was recommended and with no masks or anything. I know it's unlikely that anyone will have passed anything onto me but it's a worry with being shielded.

The website says you can book a test if you have the 3 main symptoms, not sore throats or generally unwell. What do you do, just say you have a cough or lost sense of smell? Or don’t they really check?

SistemaAddict · 17/07/2020 17:52

You just tick to say you have one of the symptoms. Sore throat is recognised by the WHO as a symptom but the government miss it off.

I have the same symptoms as well. I had a test done Thursday, I'm also getting hot flushes as well ( my temp is normal) and I'm waiting for the results.

Allywill · 17/07/2020 20:02

My daughter has a terrible sore throat - tonsils swollen and discoloured. Pretty sure it’s tonsillitis she’s very prone to it but she also has a headache and a fever (38.5) Booked drive through test to be sure. I really hope it’s negative. We were at hairdressers yesterday...

onlinelinda · 17/07/2020 23:35

I had covid with no temperature at all. Shivering and cold, cough, sore throat, and diarrhoea were my initial symptoms.

Lindy2 · 17/07/2020 23:54

Book a test for peace of mind.

I had the same symptoms plus a fever on Monday and went for a test. I'm part of the Zoe Covid symptom tracker research so I knew I'd get an email from them to get tested anyway once I told them my symptoms.

Had my test in the morning at a drive through and results were back that evening. Just 10.5 hours turnaround and luckily negative result.

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 17/07/2020 23:57

Yeah I'd say get a test. Hope you feel better soon Op.

CrunchyCarrot · 18/07/2020 03:15

Fingers crossed for you, Bercows.

What was your temperature? I'm still waiting for my result. I'm hoping they come today! I was so tired last night but for the life of me I couldn't sleep at all. I kept waking up in the night as well with sweats. My temp is still saying 36c so normal but feel so hot. Honestly if, god forbid, my test came back positive, the only way I think I'd caught it is when I went aldi last week where it was absolutely heaving or I remember in the night I was itching my eye and I may have touched my shopping which had covid on it. I just don't know. I hope to god I'm negative. My DH is BAME and has a health condition.
Lindy2 · 18/07/2020 10:46

yarncakes My temperature ranged between 37.3 and 38.3. Both are hot for me as I'm always 36.6. I spent the night alternating between sweating and being boiling hot and then freezing cold.

It turned out to be a 24 hour thing as the next day I was lots better.

I hope you are feeling better soon and get your results (negative) soon too. There are plenty of normal illnesses out there not just Coronavirus. The vast probability is you've got an ordinary run of the mill bug, especially as you've hardly had contact with anyone.

SistemaAddict · 18/07/2020 10:56

I've realised it could be my steroid inhaler as I've been taking it without my spacer first a few days. The rest should arrive on Monday so I'll see how I am then as most likely to be my inhaler (it's happened before) although that wouldn't make me feel unwell.

OP posts:
SpongeCake23 · 18/07/2020 11:01

Those were my symptoms in March when we all had it, then a cough developed a week later and lasted about 2 months.

kimlo · 18/07/2020 17:30

not using your spacer wouldn't cause aches or fatigue though. I've only recently started using a spacer most of the time and thats never given me a sore throat, but I can see that it might.

MushyPeasAreTheDevilsFood · 18/07/2020 17:39

Ive had a sore throat and have felt meh since yesterday. I finished work in a school on thurs, and live in a high risk area so i ordered a test yesterday. My test arrived this afternoon.

SistemaAddict · 18/07/2020 17:44

It's a very high dose steroid and does give me a sore throat without the spacer. I was an asthma nurse and should have known better Blush but it was drying after being washed.
My test arrived this afternoon too. I'll do it on Monday as no post now until then.

yarncakes · 18/07/2020 18:51

I've got my results - negative. I'm so, so happy! I was proper panicking for my familys health. I'm honestly going to do online shop from now on lol.

kimlo · 18/07/2020 19:16

I'm supposed to be washing the spacers?

Now you say it seems obvious Blush
