How the fuck can we have a decent chance of moving forward when it takes 17 days to get a test back?!

Yep, I'm seeing at least a week for staff and children in schools, often 10 working days and this week 12 days and waiting.

motheroftwoboys · 02/07/2020 15:51

really? My son and his girlfriend had theirs in Manchester on Friday lunchtime and she got her result 6 a.m. on Saturday, he got his a couple of hours later.

Bol87 · 02/07/2020 16:14

Mine was back in 12 hours..

Was it a home test or drive through? The drive throughs seem to be way faster!

Bupkis · 02/07/2020 16:33

It was drive through done on Tues 16th at 9 am. I chased it up after a few days, but nothing until now!

My home test was fairly quick. Think it took 3 days.

NCTDN · 02/07/2020 16:38

I'm hoping that I'll get results tomorrow after testing this morning

NCTDN · 02/07/2020 16:39

OP where did you go?

BrandNewShinyThings · 02/07/2020 16:41

My DS did one voluntarily, collected by courier on Sat and got the results today. So 4 working days.

Soontobe60 · 02/07/2020 16:41

I had a test at 10am and got the results at 9pm that night. My dd has one at 12noon and got her results just after midnight. My grandson had his test mid afternoon and got results the following morning,

mamapants · 02/07/2020 16:42

I never got mine was about a month ago now. Home test.
Chased up once and then as I was better I've just left it.

gingerbreadslice · 02/07/2020 16:48

That's a shame we just had one for a sibling and took one day to come and result was two days later we are in London

Bupkis · 02/07/2020 17:27

It was at a test centre in Wilts.
I still feel ill, although dh (who tested at same time) is better. I think I must just be run down.

DP went through the drive through on Tuesday, got results back today, negative, so pleased he’s in bed suffering from just normal man flu.

JesmondDene · 02/07/2020 21:36

Also had cases of testing carried out, no results, enquiry after a few days only to find tests have been 'damaged in transit' and families have had to retake them and wait again.

Not good enough when schools are going to be dealing with increasing numbers of pupils and in the winter increasing numbers of people with symptoms.
The delay in returning tests is going to create staffing issues and increase the risk of transmission.

JesmondDene · 02/07/2020 21:38

Those saying drive through, test centre fully booked or too far away, so some home testing as well as drive through.

Haggisfish · 02/07/2020 21:39

I was tested yesterday and had results today. Exceptionally quick and slick.

sashagabadon · 02/07/2020 21:48

I've had 6 tests now. All back within 24 hours.
With home tests don't forget to ring them and register the bar code or you won't get the result.

sownahsk · 02/07/2020 21:51

My results were back within 36 hours, this was a home test. Of course there will be a few that slip through the net but I don't think you can say yours is a typical example OP.

ifonly4 · 02/07/2020 21:56

DD had a routine one 90 mins before an emergency operation. She had no symptoms. No one has ever come back to her to confirm it was presumably negative.

Thisismytimetoshine · 02/07/2020 21:59

Maybe the positive results are communicated quicker?

Haggisfish · 02/07/2020 22:43

My results were negative and turned around in a day.

Aragog · 02/07/2020 22:59

I did a home kit on the 5th June. Collected that day.
Results came back on the 8th.

AnneElliott · 02/07/2020 23:02

Mine came back in 24 hours.

SummerBreeze23 · 02/07/2020 23:05

5 tests now for me and family members. All back within 36 hours. Done in various drive through testing centres in the North west. Sorry about your experience op that sounds incredibly frustrating!!

Aragog · 02/07/2020 23:06

Full process was:

3 June - ordered
Arrived 4 June but after 4pm
Test done 5 June evening
Collected on 6 June (first thing)
Results came through on the 8 June
